- New circuit stage near Trier provides ideal conditions for rally fans
Munich/Trier, 28 July 2016 – When a Special Stage (SS) is designated a “Super Special Stage”, it can mean only one thing for fans of the ADAC Rallye Deutschland: this is the place to go for jam-packed action! Especially since this particular Super Special Stage is making its debut on the schedule of the German FIA WRC event. We are talking about Ollmuth, the new Special Stage which World Champion Sébastien Ogier and the other WRC stars will tackle early Friday night (19 August 2016). The circuit stage near Trier, which offers perfect viewing, is one of many new highlights which Clerk of the Course Alfred Rommelfanger and his organising team have added to this year’s itinerary.
Ollmuth is a spectacular finale in Friday’s line-up for the rally participants who, by that time, will have completed the vineyard stages, Mittelmosel and Moselland, twice. After regrouping to restore the correct starting order, the WRC rally cars will assemble a few kilometres south of Trier near the town of Franzenheim. From there, they will start off south at 18:12 hours on a spectacular circuit that packs a punch: at the highest rally-racing speeds, the drivers will attack narrow rural roads, tight corners and tricky crests. Each participant will complete the circuit stage twice. The WRC leader will start first, then his pursuers. In the middle of the third lap, the crews will turn off towards Ollmuth and reach the finish line after a total of 8.21 challenging kilometres.
The new Special Stage offers prime conditions for rally spectators in every aspect. First of all, it is within easy reach – only a very short drive from Trier on federal highway 268 towards Zerf. Another advantage is the rather late starting time, allowing last-minute spectators to pay a quick “after work visit” to the ADAC Rallye Deutschland. Finally, the extensive natural spectator stands along the track create a special arena-type atmosphere. They offer the ideal vantage point for the spectators to cheer on their favourites and virtually never lose sight of the vehicles over the entire distance.
The new Special Stage near Ollmuth adds a circuit stage format to Friday’s line-up for the ADAC Rallye Deutschland that is as spectator-friendly as it is spectacular. Saturday has a similar treat in store: The Sprints in the arena on the legendary Panzerplatte have enthused spectators since 2014. This year, there will be three Sprints on the Baumholder military range.
