ADAC High-Speed Academy set to embark on Season 6

  • Championship-winning team, US Racing, managed by Ralf Schumacher and Gerhard Ungar in line-up again
  • Young talents taking their first steps in open-wheel racing
  • Seven race weekends to be held in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands

Lausitzring: The sixth season of the ADAC Formula 4 is about to kick off. The ADAC Formula 4 is where aspiring young talents dreaming of a great career take their first steps in open-wheel racing. SPORT1 will broadcast the ADAC High-Speed Academy’s races on TV. The season will open July 31st-August 2nd within the context of the ADAC GT Masters at the Lausitzring, but this weekend, the stars of tomorrow are already there, busy preparing for the season with testing. Every weekend, SPORT1 will feature at least one race live on free-to-air television, and racing can also be followed on SPORT1+. All races will also be available online as live stream with German/English commentary on SPORT1.de, youtube.com/adac and at adac.de/motorsport.

Teams that have previously contested the series in the past, Van Amersfoort Racing, R-ace GP and ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg eV, are in the line-up once again. US Racing, the team managed by Ralf Schumacher and Gerhard Ungar, are also back in 2020. For the past two years, the Kerpen-based outfit has dominated the series, taking both team and driver championship titles. Prema Powerteam from Italy plan to take part in certain events.

16-year-old Joshua Dürksen (16, Paraguay, ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg) has high ambitions as he approaches the start of his second season. He came third last year in the Rookie stakes and really impressed with good results. Dürksen is now keen to take the next step and join the race for the title. At Mücke Motorsport, Dürksen will have a new team-mate from the Czech Republic, Josef Knopp, who is starting his first season in the ADAC High-Speed Academy.

As usual, US Racing have an international line-up this year, as Team Principals, Gerhard Ungar and Ralf Schumacher, will field ADAC Sports Foundation protégé, Tim Tramnitz (15, Germany), Elias Seppänen (16, Finland) and Vlad Lomko (15, Russia). US Racing had Arthur Leclerc, the brother of Formula 1 star Charles Leclerc, and the eventual champion, Theo Pourchaire, in their team in 2019. This year’s cohort of drivers aims to build on previous success.

French outfit, R-ace GP, will also compete with three cars, driven by Victor Bernier (16, France), Artem Lobanenko (19, Russia) and Kirill Smal (15, Russia). The two Russians are embarking on their rookie season in formula racing this year.

Van Amersfoort Racing from the Netherlands are also returning with two Red Bull Juniors. Jak Crawford (15, USA) and Jonny Edgar (16, Great Britain), with whom we are already familiar from last season, will line up for team boss, Frits van Amersfoort’s outfit. Guest entrants will join the field for certain events.

Season 6 will feature races in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. Six race weekends will take place within the context of the ADAC GT Masters, and the ADAC Formula 4 will also be on the programme for the ADAC TOTAL 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in September.
