- First time since 2015: ADAC Formula 4 is back at the Spa Formula 1 circuit
- Five events at current and former Grand Prix tracks
- Second generation of ADAC Formula 4 cars to be used from 2022
Munich. New car, five current and former Formula 1 circuits, and a total of six events with 18 races. ADAC Formula 4 is ready for the 2022 season, which will feature many changes. One of the highlights on the calendar is the return of the Spa-Francorchamps Formula 1 circuit in Belgium, where the season will kick off from 22nd to 24th April. The eighth season of the junior series is also the first to use the new generation of ADAC Formula 4 car. For the first time in the series, environmentally-friendly fuels will be used as part of a new ADAC concept to achieve greater sustainability.
At the season-opener in Belgium, ADAC Formula 4 will share the bill with the 12h of Spa, an event in the 24H Series. This is the first time since 2015 that the high-speed school will start at the iconic circuit. Back then, ADAC Formula 4 was still in its first season. The series now returns, seven years later. From Belgium, the teams and drivers head to Hockenheim from 13th to 15th May, where they again feature on the support programme for the 24H Series.
From 24th to 26th June, ADAC Formula 4 will race in its familiar ADAC GT Masters environment at the Formula 1 circuit in Zandvoort. Next up from 5th to 7th August is the Nürburgring, followed two weeks later (19th to 21st August) by the Lausitzring weekend, which forms part of the Family & Friends Festival run by DEKRA and the ADAC. The season finale takes place from 14th to 16th October, when the series returns to the Nürburgring as part of the ADAC Racing Weekend. As opposed to August, when the sprint circuit was used, the drivers will race on the Grand Prix variant this time.
The teams and drivers will compete for higher prize money in the 18 races in the ADAC Formula 4 in the coming year, the prize money pot will be increased to a total of 150,000 euros in monetary and material prizes. The new Formula 4 car, which ADAC Formula 4 recently presented at the Hockenheim race weekend, also promises to provide great excitement. It generates over 180 hp and boasts high safety standards. These include the installation of the “Halo” roll bar that has become a familiar sight in Formula 1, Formula 2 and Formula 3. For the second generation of car, ADAC Formula 4 is again putting its faith in the tried-and-tested technology package, with a chassis from Italian company Tatuus, tyres from Formula 1 supplier Pirelli and an engine from Fiat Abarth.
