ADAC Northern Europe Cup: Still proving very popular

  • New Moto3 series with big prize money and title
  • Two race meetings within the context of MotoGP and WorldSBK
  • Junior series sponsored by main MotoGP marketing company Dorna

Munich: Demand for grid positions in the new ADAC Northern Europe Cup remains high and the series is still proving very popular. So far, 24 riders have already enrolled in the new motorcycle series for juniors. Interested parties have until February 15th, 2016, to register online at www.adac.de/moto3 for the debut season of the ADAC NEC. In addition to a varied schedule, the ADAC Northern Europe Cup, which main MotoGP marketing company Dorna has made part of its Endorsed Programme, also offers big prize money to participants.

The provisional list of entries contains many names that are already well-known from the ADAC Junior Cup powered by KTM. Tim Georgi and Matthias Meggle will be contesting their second Moto3 season while champion Dirk Geiger, Toni Erhard, Mende Marie and Jason Dupasquier will be making their debut. They will be joined by Kiefer Racing team with Kevin and Leon Orgis.

Philipp Freitag, Anna Adbring, Johanna Innerfors, Sander Kroeze, Simon Jespersen, Ernst Dubbink and Leon Czichos rode last season in the Moto3 Standard / Moto3 GP class and will again be battling for top places. Well-known riders such as Manou Antweiler, Oliver King and other national and international participants will also be taking part.

Standard and GP class Moto3 bikes will be used to contest the Northern Europe ADAC Cup. The new series is to be staged exclusively within the context of top-class racing events in Germany, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Big sponsorship pot for participants

Alongside the ADAC, the sponsors of the series, Honda, Intact GP with Liqui Moly and Intact Battery Power and partners Dainese and MRA intend to form an effective alliance, making available a European sponsorship pot without equal in Europe in order to provide strong backing for young riders in the ADAC Northern Europe Cup.

Prize money currently totals around 10,000 euros. In addition, Honda will put up a further sum in prize money that amounts to nearly 15,000 euros. Intact GP, Liqui Moly and Intact BatteryPower will pay out an additional 10,000 euros to standard class riders at the end of the season.

Varied schedule

The schedule of ADAC Northern Europe Cup has a lot to offer apart from the prize money. Ten championship rounds in all will be contested during 2016. The season kicks off on the weekend of April 8th-10th with two races on the grand prix circuit at Silverstone during the MCE British Superbike Championship fixture. Just one week later (April 15th-17th), the ADAC Northern Europe Cup heads to the Dutch circuit of Assen and the first highlight of the season at the Motul FIM World Superbike Championship.

After a further weekend’s racing at the Lausitzring, the season will reach its climax with the fourth round to be held during the German Motorcycle Grand Prix at the Sachsenring. ADAC Northern Europe Cup riders will line up for two races in August at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben as part of German Speed Week before heading to Hockenheim (September 23rd-25th).

The grand finale of the ADAC Northern Europe Cup will take place from September 30th to October 2nd, 2016 on the grand prix circuit in Assen, Netherlands. This race weekend will be held under the banner of the MCE British Superbike Championship, as was the case at the season opener. Riders will again contest two races in the finale of the ADAC Northern Europe Cup.
