Registration for the second season of the ADAC Northern Europe Cup has commenced

• ADAC NEC to retain well-tried formula for second season
• First dates for 2017 at top-class meetings have been announced

Munich: The ADAC Northern Europe Cup will be run again in 2017 for a second year after enjoying a successful debut season. The new series for juniors was very popular in its first year. 27 riders from eight different countries registered to take part on a regular basis in 2016 divided up between the Standard and Grand Prix classes, a feature which will be retained next season. Ten races are again scheduled to take place at seven top-class meetings in Germany and other European countries. Registration for the 2017 season has commenced. “The first season of the ADAC Northern Europe Cup has met all our expectations, and we now intend to build on our experience,” said ADAC Sports President Hermann Tomczyk. “With the ADAC NEC, we are continuing the work begun with juniors in the ADAC Mini Bike and Pocket Bike and the ADAC Junior Cup powered by KTM series. The excellent response from those taking part this year has shown that the concept is gaining acceptance.”

The successful debut season has only just finished, and several dates have already been set for 2017. The ADAC NEC will open the season with a two-and-a-half-day introductory training session which will take place from 8th to 11th April at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, a popular grand prix circuit.

The ADAC NEC riders will compete again during German Speedweek at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben (19th – 21st May 2017). A special highlight of the season for the riders will be lining up at the German Motorcycle Grand Prix at the Sachsenring (14th – 16th July 2017). Participation at other grand prix events is also being planned.

More races that have already been calendared will be staged in collaboration with the British Superbike Championship. ADAC NEC races will be held twice at grand prix tracks in the UK with one meeting taking place at Donington Park and another at Silverstone. The junior riders will be in Assen in the Netherlands from 29th September to 1st October to contest another two races within the context of the British Championship. Sponsorship funding and prize money to remain the same

The ADAC NEC will continue to be divided into a Standard and a GP category. In the GP category, all motorcycles up to grand prix spec are allowed. In the Standard class, all standard production Honda NSF250 machines are eligible to start with only minor modifications. The ADAC NEC will again be sponsored by MotoGP’s main distributor, Dorna, in 2017 as part of its ‘Endorsed Programme’.

The riders can compete for top prize money and sponsorship from Honda, Intact GP with Liqui Moly and Intact Battery Power as well as from series partners Dainese and MRA. Danish rider Simon Jespersen swept the board in 2016, taking home prize money totalling 7,000 euros.

Kiefer Racing have already decided at this early stage to continue in the ADAC Northern Europe Cup and field a number of riders in 2017. Kevin Orgis, who finished sixth in the 2016 season, will join Kiefer Racing in the GP class next season, riding a KTM.
