21.11.2014 - ADAC Formel Masters

ADAC Formula 4 debut season live on SPORT1+

Munich: ADAC Formula 4 makes its debut in 2015. With SPORT1, the ADAC has been able to secure the services of a well-known media partner for the successor to the successful Formel ADAC junior series.

“This is great news for our new series. ADAC Formula 4 races are to feature live on SPORT1+. Fans will now have the chance to see how the single-seater stars of tomorrow develop at a very early stage. In addition, drivers and teams have a great opportunity to present themselves live to a television audience,” said Lars Soutschka, ADAC Director Motorsport and Classic.

Pay-TV channel SPORT1+ will broadcast live races from the ADAC high-speed academy at weekends during ADAC Formula 4’s debut season. In addition, SPORT1 will present a 45-minute magazine-style round-up on free-to-air TV that will include features about the ADAC Formula 4 juniors. Extensive online and mobile phone reporting on SPORT1.de and on SPORT1 apps will complete the multimedia package. In 2015, SPORT1 will also transmit live pictures from all ADAC GT Masters races.

The ADAC Formula 4 vehicles will line up on the grid powered by Abarth turbo engines, running chassis developed by Italian manufacturer, Tatuus. Italian premium tyre manufacturer Pirelli, who are well-known from Formula 1, will provide tyres for the junior series. The first season of the ADAC Formula 4 gets under way on the weekend of 25th/26th April, 2015, in the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. The race schedule features a total of eight events, including up to two races in neighbouring European countries.

For many years, the ADAC single-seater development programme for juniors has been a stepping stone for future motor racing stars. In the past, Formula 1 drivers such as four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, Nico Hülkenberg, Nico Rosberg and Ralf Schumacher and DTM stars like Martin Tomczyk, Pascal Wehrlein and Timo Glock all started their successful careers in ADAC single-seater junior series.
