  • Kirchhöfer makes it two wins out of two
  • Kirchhöfer: „A fabulous race – I’m really pleased”
  • Dontje and Visser score points in home race

Circuit Park Zandvoort (NL) – Race 2
Date: 6 May 2012
Race: 5/24
Weather: cloudy, 10°C
Circuit length: 4.307 km
Pole position: Marvin Kirchhöfer
Laps: 9
Winner: Marvin Kirchhöfer
Fastest Lap: Marvin Kirchhöfer (1:42.774)

Zandvoort – Two victories in two races in the ADAC premiere at Zandvoort: Marvin Kirchhöfer claimed his second win in the second of three Formel ADAC races this weekend. The 18-year-old pole-setter who drives for Lotus cruised from start to finish on the legendary Dutch track and further consolidated his championship lead. "Once again, that was a fabulous race, and I’m really pleased", said the ADAC Sports Foundation protégé. "My thanks to the team for delivering such a super car."

Although Jason Kremer (17, Bonn, Mücke Motorsport) was unable to make Kirchhöfer work for his win, he at least defended his own second-place start to cross the line as comfortable runner-up. Kuba Dalewski (16, POL, Lotus), the first Polish driver to compete in Formel ADAC, took the remaining podium spot. The Top Three included two Lotus drivers. Indy Dontje (19, NED, Lotus) finished fourth in his home race on the ‘Rollercoaster in the Dunes’, his best result to date in the junior single-seater series.

During the course of the 15-minute race, Clemente Picariello (18, BEL, G&J / Schiller-Motorsport) managed to pick his way through half of the starting field to cross the line fifth. Mounting an equally spectacular chase was Thomas Jäger (17, AUT, Neuhauser Racing): the Austrian overtook eight opponents to finish sixth ahead of Hendrik Grapp (18, Berlin, ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.) who had started from eighth.

Beitske Visser (17, NED, Lotus) notched up her first points of the current campaign with a P8 finish in her home race. The only woman driver on the grid had to miss out on the first race after colliding with a barrier in qualifying on Saturday.

The start of the second race was delayed because Kim-Alexander Giersiepen (17, Radevormwald, KSW Motorsport) spun off track on the way to the grid while trying to get his tyres up to temperature and had to retire. Luca Caspari (16, Meerbusch, Mücke Motorsport), who had actually qualified second, started from last due to a technical fault that became apparent on the second warm-up lap. After a further formation lap, the stewards then decided to reduce the length of the race from 25 to 15 minutes.

Comments from the Top 3 drivers

Marvin Kirchhöfer, Winner:
„Once again, that was a fabulous race, and I’m really pleased. My thanks to the team for delivering such a super car. I got off to the perfect start, though I have to say that all the formation laps were a bit confusing. But after that, I just pulled away from the field and was even able to ease off on the tyres as the race progressed. My car was superbly balanced, which enabled me to build up such an early lead. In the past, I’ve had my problems at the Zandvoort track, but more recently, I’ve really enjoyed driving here.“

Jason Kremer, Second:
„The start was unsettling all round. I had psyched myself up for the first attempt, but then we had to complete more formation laps. But the five-minute break gave me the chance to focus my thoughts once again, Obviously, I was the beneficiary of Luca Caspari’s bad luck, which gave me a race position without even having to battle for it. I was never worried about anything breaking on my own car.“

Kuba Dalewski, Third:
„Three podiums from five race – I’m satisfied with that. Unfortunately, I was a bit slow off the grid. Normally, I’m a good starter, but I wasn’t able to prove it this time. In the third race, I’ll be starting from sixth, and I aim to be much quicker off the mark.“
