Jarschel dominates race day at the Sachsenring

  • Tim Jarschel scores important points in the DTM eSports Championship
  • Successful main race for Nikodem Wisniewski
  • Four-way battle in the championship

Munich. Tim Jarschel (Falken Simracing Team) retains his lead in the table at the start of the second half of the season in the DTM eSports Championship 2024 powered by RaceRoom. The Porsche driver secured both pole positions, one race win, and a second place at the Sachsenring. In the main race, Nikodem Wisniewski (G2 Esports) was delighted to chalk up his second victory of the season. Christopher Högfeldt (privateer) went round in 1:17.269 minutes to record the fastest lap time in the main race.

Start-finish win for Jarschel
Everything went according to plan for Jarschel in the sprint race. He grabbed pole position and stayed ahead of his closest rivals in the championship. Kevin Siggy (Team Redline) claimed second place on the grid, ahead of Wisniewski. In the sprint race, Jarschel was able to move straight into the lead from pole position. Siggy and Wisniewski remained in second and third places. Jarschel and Siggy swiftly pulled away from the rest of the field. Just before the end of the 20-minute race, the Team Redline driver attempted to mount an attack on Jarschel but was unable to pass him. Jarschel was able to confirm another win shortly thereafter, while Siggy finished second and Wisniewski crossed the line in third.

Wiesniewski unbeatable in main race
Jarschel also claimed pole position in qualifying for the main race. Wisniewski also claimed a spot on the front row of the grid. Marcell CsinCsik (R8G Esports) and Jeffrey Rietveld (Team Redline) occupied the second row. Wisniewski's reactions were quicker at the start and he moved past the polesitter, who had to be content with second place. After a tumultuous start, the leading group soon settled into a calm rhythm. Jarschel pitted first, aiming to overtake Wisniewski later. However, he made use of the clear track and was fast enough to stay ahead of Jarschel. The Polish driver did not make any mistakes throughout the remainder of the race and was in no danger of surrendering his second win of the season, finishing ahead of Jarschel and Rietveld.

After the successful weekend, Jarschel now heads to the Red Bull Ring as championship leader, with 212 points. Wisniewski (169 points), Rietveld (165 points) and Siggy (164 points) are lying in wait behind him.

Jeffrey Rietveld: “That was a hard day’s racing. The Porsche was simply too fast for us here. But that means I am happy with that third place in the main race. In terms of the championship, I am not giving up as there are still plenty of points up for grabs.”

Tim Jarschel: “The Sachsenring is a difficult circuit and it is not easy to place well in qualifying here. I am a bit disappointed at losing that position in the main race. However, that can happen. The Red Bull Ring is not one of my favourite circuits, but it should suit me nonetheless.”

Nikodem Wisniewski: “I am delighted with that. The double podium is a good result. Qualifying was so close, those were some crazy times. I held back a bit after the start of the first race and kept my powder dry for the main race. That’s when I went on the attack. I know that I would stay the course if I stuck to the team strategy.”

The penultimate race day in the DTM eSports Championship 2024 powered by RaceRoom will take place on Friday. The drivers will be racing at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The livestream starts at 19:15 on the DTM YouTube channel, with commentary in German and in English.
