Jarschel remains on course for success in the DTM eSports Championship

  • Tim Jarschel sets the pace again on race day two
  • Close battle at the front in main race
  • Kevin Siggy takes his first win of the season

Munich. There was no stopping Tim Jarschel (Falken Simracing Team) again at the Nürburgring. He not only took the points for a victory and second place on the second race day of the 2024 DTM eSports Challenge powered by RaceRoom, but also picked up a further two points for the Pole Position Award and won the Fastest Lap Award. Defending champion Kevin Siggy (Team Redline) triumphed in the main race, having failed to finish the previous race. Nikodem Wisniewski (G2 Esports) came home second and third in the two races.

Jarschel claims win number two of the season
As it was at the season-opener, qualifying was a close affair at the Nürburgring. Jarschel came out on top to secure pole, just 0.111 seconds faster than Wisniewski. The second row of the grid was shared by Jiri Toman (R8G Esports) and Jeffrey Rietveld (Team Redline). All four drivers were separated by just 0.170 seconds. The flying start produced a hard but fair battle between Jarschel and Wisniewski, with the lead changing hands between the two Porsche drivers on several occasions in the first few corners. In the end, Jarschel was able to hold off Wisniewski and take the lead. As the race progressed, he managed to pull clear of his rivals and went on to take win number two of the season.

Rollercoaster ride for Kevin Siggy
Jarschel again posted the fastest time and claimed another pole position in the second qualifying session. Siggy secured second place, ahead of Wisniewski and Enzo Bonito (Team Redline). The main race started well for Siggy: he got away fastest from a standing start and took the lead ahead of Jarschel. The winner of the opening race did his best to reclaim the lead, but ultimately had to slot into second place. The Team Redline driver kept his nose in front after the pit stop, but again found Jarschel hot on his heels. The championship leader launched multiple attacks on Siggy on the final lap, but the Slovenian refused to buckle under the pressure and claimed his first win of the season. As well as the important points towards the championship, Jarschel also picked up two further rewards. The fastest lap (1:24.614 minutes) in race two earned him the Fastest Lap Award and a product from Thrustmaster. He also scored valuable points in the Pole Position Award with his two qualifying successes, taking him another step closer to winning the Asher Racing McLaren Artura Ultimate Wheel.

Tim Jarschel: “That was a good evening. It was a close battle with Kevin, and I really hoped to be able to get him on the final lap. There is still a long way to go in the season, so I don’t want to get ahead of myself.”

Nikodem Wisniewski: “I am very happy with the day. The qualifying sessions went really well and I started the races from second and third on the grid. In the race, Tim was a little too fast for me to be able to attack him. The double podium made it a positive race day.”

Kevin Siggy: “The first race could have gone better. I could have started from second, but just didn’t feel good in the first qualifying. However, race two was much better. Tim’s pace is sensational at the moment, and I am happy to have stayed in front of him.”

The DTM eSports Championship powered by RaceRoom reaches the halfway point of the season next time out at the Lausitzring. The races take place this Friday (22nd March 2024) and will be streamed live from 19:15 on the DTM YouTube channel, with commentary available in German and English.
