New leader after Nürburgring races

  • Victory for Jarschel in the sprint race
  • Lukas Müller claims maiden win in main race
  • Third race - third winner in the Community Cup

Munich. Race day three of the DTM eSports Championship was all about the turquoise blue Porsche of the Falken Simracing Team. The team won both races and also claimed a further podium on each occasion. Defending champion Tim Jarschel triumphed in the sprint race, before his team-mate Lukas Müller won the main race to claim his maiden victory in the DTM eSports Championship. He also replaced Isaac Price (privateer) at the top of the table.

Sprint race: Luck for Jarschel, no luck for Price
Qualifying was dominated by the team of last year's winner Jarschel, who secured pole position. His team-mates Leonard Krippner and Lukas Müller qualified third and fourth. Only Gianmarco Fiduci (privateer) in second place was able to separate the turquoise blue trio.

The start of the sprint race heralded a fierce battle for the lead between Jarschel and Fiduci, with Fiduci ultimately having to settle for second place. Victory went to Tim Jarschel. Krippner came home third, ahead of his team-mate Müller. Championship leader Price finished down in 16th place.

One-two for Falken Simracing in the main race
Jarschel suffered a disconnect shortly before the end of the second qualifying session, and was unable to return for the main race. As such, his team-mates Müller and Krippner shared the front row of the grid. Emre Cihan (privateer) and Alexandro Ottaviani (R8G Esports) lined up behind the Falken Simracing duo.

Müller and Krippner were not to be knocked out of their stride, holding their line and hanging onto first and second place. Fiduci slotted into third, while Cihan dropped back to seventh place in all the turmoil. The order at the top remained the same after the pit stops with Müller and Krippner going on to finish first and second. Fiduci took a comfortable third place, ahead of Ottaviani in fourth, with Isaac Price rounding out the top five.

Müller is the new championship leader
Victory in the main race and fourth place in the sprint earned Müller a healthy points haul at the Nürburgring. He now tops the table with 138 points, with Price second on 135, followed by Krippner (116 points). Jarschel and Müller ensured their names are in the hat for the Pole Position Award. Müller also won a JBL Charge 6 speaker in the DTM design for the fastest lap of the main race (1:54.305 minutes). The drivers in the DTM eSports Championship can now take a breather for a few days. The Funrace, with a mix of racing drivers, celebrities and influencers, will take place in two weeks. The 32 drivers then return to action at the Sachsenring on 30th May.

Lukas Müller: "I was not expecting a race day like that. Finally my first win in the "main season" of the DTM eSports Championship. Up until now, I had only done well in the shoot-outs. I am super happy. Our team feels at home at the Nürburgring."

Leonard Krippner: "That is a top result for us and speaks volumes for the work that we invested in this race."

Gianmarco Fiduci: "I think the Porsche was a bit faster today. It was great to finish ahead of two of them in the opening race."

Tim Jarschel: "I was on my last lap, but was then thrown off the server. I tried everything to restart, but ran out of time. I am pleased with the team result, even if it does hurt. I would have liked to have scored the points. Especially as Isaac had problems today. Let's see what happens now."

Community Cup: Third race - third winner
The Community Cup served up plenty of entertainment again at the Nürburgring – this time in DTM racers from 2013/2014. These cars were equipped with DRS, which can make overtaking easier for a driver attempting to pass another car. After 20 minutes of racing, Christian Grotte (privateer), who twice benefitted from other drivers' mistakes, celebrated his first victory in the Community Cup. He was followed home by Absolut Motorsport Acelith drivers Petr Daniel and Tomás Ribero.

Christian Grotte: "I actually planned to stay behind Tomás and use my DRS on the last lap. Unfortunately for him, however, he then had a spin. The cars from that era looked fantastic and had an awesome sound."
