- 32 sim racers go racing for the first time in virtual Zandvoort
- Tim Jarschel out to defend his title
- Prize purse of € 50,000
Munich. The 2025 DTM will be a full-throttle affair again in 2025: the new season of the DTM eSports Championship gets underway on 21st March. The opening round at the virtual Circuit Zandvoort sees 32 of the world's best sim racers go head to head. Twelve races, across six events between March and July, await the competitors. The drivers who qualified for the series will be battling it out for a share of the € 50,000 prize purse, while the champion can also look forward to a test in a GT4 car. The races will be broadcast from 19:15 on the DTM YouTube channel, with commentary in German and English.
Sim racing stars and new faces
Two shootouts at the start of the year gave sim racers from all over the world the opportunity to secure a regular starting place in the 2025 DTM eSports Championship. The resulting field is an exciting mix of established sim racers, as well as new drivers and teams. Returning to defend his title this year is 2024 champion Tim Jarschel (Falken Simracing Team). As well as Jarschel, familiar names include Bence Banki (Dörr Esports), Emre Cihan and Isaac Price (both privateers), who will also fancy their chances of winning the title. The R8G e-Sports Team is also represented with three drivers: Kaj de Bruin, Julian Klaffenböck and Alessandro Ottaviani line up in the sim racing championship. Zandvoort presents a real challenge for competitors at the start of the season. The combination of fast and slow corners, as well as significant changes in elevation, make the circuit technically demanding and really put the drivers' concentration to the test.
GT4 test for the champion
In 2024, Jarschel took the honours at the end of a thrilling season. This year, the overall winner of the DTM eSports Championship can again look forward to an outing in a GT4 car at a real racetrack. The runner-up will receive a KW chassis, while the third-placed driver takes home an Ascher Racing steering wheel. A prize purse totalling € 50,000 in cash and non-cash prizes awaits the competitors. And it is also worth putting pedal to the metal in two other classifications: the winner of the Pole Position Award, which takes into consideration all twelve qualifying sessions at the end of the season, will receive a set of BBS rims. The winners of the Fastest Lap Award - those who set the fastest lap time in the main race on any given race day - each win a DTM limited edition JBL Bluetooth speaker.
New for 2025: The Community Cup
On every race day in the DTM eSports Championship, sim racers who have not qualified for the series can also take their place behind the wheel in the Community Cup. To honour the history of the last four decades of the DTM, the competitors will start on the same racetracks as the pros, but in vintage cars – from a different era at each event. A leaderboard will be opened on RaceRoom before each DTM eSports event. The fastest 32 drivers will then be invited to compete in the Community Cup race, which will be broadcast live on the DTM eSports race day stream.
