DTM – Stars and Stories from the finale at the Hockenheimring
Hockenheim. From a rock star with the start sign, to an Olympic champion in the paddock: stars from the worlds of music, sport and television attended the DTM finale at the Hockenheimring. Scorpions founder Rudolf Schenker sent the field into Saturday's race, before actress Lisa-Marie Koroll took charge of the start sign on Sunday. Olympic bobsleigh champion Deborah Levi swapped the ice channel for the pit lane, actor Axel Stein took to the track in the Race Taxi, Sasha warmed the crowd up as Dick Brave on Saturday evening, and model Betty Taube took her place at the wheel in the BMW M2 Cup.
Lisa-Marie Koroll storms from the film set to the Race Taxi
Lisa-Marie Koroll (Bibi and Tina series) knows how it feels to be at the racetrack from her time in front of the camera: in the original production of Amazon Prime's "Drive - The Pretenders", she plays a mechanic, whose biggest dream is to get behind the wheel of a race car. The film was filmed at several circuits, including the Hockenheimring. This weekend, Koroll returned to the iconic racetrack, where she allowed DTM champion Maximilian Götz to chauffeur her around the track in the Mercedes-AMG Race Taxi. On Sunday, she sent the drivers into the final race of the season, after which she presented the trophy to the winning team on the DTM podium.
Rock star on the start sign: Schenker gives the starting signal in Hockenheim
Rudolf Schenker, rhythm guitarist with the Scorpions, swapped his guitar for the "Drivers start your engines" sign on Saturday, and sent the drivers into the 15th race of the season. The man born in Sarstedt is the longest-serving founding member of the band, and had not attended a DTM race for decades. This time, Schenker took full advantage and spent the whole finale weekend in in Hockenheim. "Our tour schedule simply has not allowed me to experience a DTM race live. I am back here as a guest for the first time for 25 years, and am pretty excited. The atmosphere with the fans, the drivers and these great cars is simply fantastic. I am enjoying every moment," said Schenker. As one of the most important songwriters in the Scorpions, he has made German rock music famous around the world with hits including "Rock You Like a Hurricane", "Still Loving You", and "Wind of Change".
Entertainer Axel Stein has petrol in his blood
Axel Stein is familiar with racetracks - and not just as a spectator: the comedian and actor ("Hausmeister Krause", "Harte Jungs") is an avowed car fan, and even possesses a racing licence. Stein was a guest of the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland at the DTM finale at the Hockenheimring. The man from Wuppertal checked out Race Control, looked around the paddock, and headed onto the track in the Race Taxi. "I have petrol in my blood and am a huge motorsport fan," said Stein. "I find the whole DTM environment fascinating, and confirm every time that Hockenheim is a world of its own. My highlight was the taxi ride in the Porsche 911 Cup. That was an awesome feeling."
Betty Taube – a model with motorsport in her genes
She knows her spotlights and catwalks, but also how to find the racing line: model and presenter Betty Taube was not only a guest at the DTM finale in Hockenheim, but also lined up herself in the BMW M2 Cup. This was possible, because the woman born in Eberswald has a racing licence. "It was nice to be at the DTM finale, and to take part in the BMW M2 Cup myself as a driver. The atmosphere was fantastic. Whenever I walked through the pit lane, my motorsport pulse started racing," said Taube. She was also impressed by the BMW M2 Racing: "A great car, particularly for beginners like me. Fortunately, it lets you get away with the odd mistake."
Dick Brave pumps up the volume at the finale
After Saturday's race, Dick Brave produced the musical highlight of the DTM finale. The rock 'n' roll singer is one of Germany's best-known live acts, with his rockabilly energy and vintage charm. With new interpretations of familiar hits in a rock 'n' roll style, Sasha - as Dick Brave - thrilled fans and got the Hockenheimring rocking. The singer praised fans after the live gig: "That was a super concert, a great crowd, and a mega event. I am proud that we were able to play at the DTM finale, and hope we see each other again soon."
Olympic bobsleigh champion Deborah Levi: From the ice channel to the pit lane
Deborah Levi is used to life at top speed - but usually on ice: as the pusher for driver Laura Nolte, she was crowned Olympic champion in the two-man bob in Beijing in 2022 and Cortina d'Ampezzo in 2026. At the DTM finale, she swapped the ice channel for the Hockenheimring, and took time to take a good look at the race cars in the paddock. Between the garage and the pit lane, Levi discovered a number of parallels with her own sport: "Bobsleigh is also about speed and fractions of seconds. As in a race car, you are subjected to strong G forces, have to make correct decisions in a flash, and your adrenalin levels go through the roof," she explained.
Handball meets Hockenheim: David Späth and Antje Döll at the DTM finale
Two handball stars at the DTM finale: David Späth (Olympic silver medallist in 2024, runner-up in the 2026 European Championship) and Antje Döll (captain of the national team, silver at the 2025 world championships) experienced the DTM live for the first time in Hockenheim. The duo enjoyed the atmosphere in the paddock, and cheered on the drivers as the destination of the title was decided. "The Hockenheimring is obviously a highlight in this region, in which I have deep roots. As such, I am delighted to be able to watch this spectacle at first hand," said Späth, who also did a lap in the Schaeffler Innovation Taxi. "That was great fun. I only know the DTM from TV, but the glimpse behind the scenes allowed me to see for the first time the organisation and logistical effort that goes into a race weekend. That was very impressive."
Goosebumps before the final race: Julia Vieregge sings the national anthem
Shortly before the DTM started its final race of the season, he had her big moment: Julia Vieregge sang the German national anthem in Hockenheim. With her powerful voice, the singer gave the decisive 16th race of the championship a worthy setting, before the title race headed into its final showdown. "Signing the anthem was one of the highlights of my life. Since I found out that I would be appearing at the DTM, I have been floating two metres above the floor," said Vieregge, who was seen most recently on TV casting show "The Voice of Germany", which is produced by DTM TV partner ProSieben.
