Maro Engel confirmed as Oschersleben winner

• Appeal lodged by TGI Team by GRT rejected
• Engel awarded victory in Oschersleben, ahead of Preining and Wittmann

Munich. Maro Engel (D/Mercedes-AMG Team Ravenol) remains the winner of the tenth DTM race of the season at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. On Friday, the Appeals Court of the German Motorsport Association (DMSB) in Frankfurt rejected the appeal lodged by TGI Team by GRT against the disqualification of Mirko Bortolotti (I). As such, the decision made by officials on 13th August stands, and Mercedes-AMG driver Engel is confirmed as the race winner.

Bortolotti was first across the finish line in the Sunday race in Oschersleben, but was then disqualified, as a wheel bearing on his Lamborghini Temerario GT3 did not comply with the DTM homologation. TGI Team by GRT had lodged an appeal against the disqualification.

The result of race two in Oschersleben thus remains unchanged. Maro Engel is awarded the victory, with Thomas Preining (A/Manthey) second. Marco Wittmann (D/Schubert Motorsport) is classified in third place.

Preining leads the DTM with 197 points ahead of the season finale at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg (9th to 11th October). Engel follows on 174 points, 23 points off top spot. Wittmann lies third, a further point back on 173. A total of six drivers in cars from four manufacturers could still win the DTM title in Hockenheim.
