CUPRA remains Official Car Partner, new Formentor VZ5 set for DTM premiere

• CUPRA to continue providing cars for DTM race control

Munich. CUPRA will lead the DTM field again in 2026: the Spanish automobile manufacturer remains Official Car Partner of the racing series. By extending the successful partnership, CUPRA and the DTM are continuing to drive innovation, performance and brand emotion in motorsport. The new CUPRA Formentor VZ5 will operate as safety car and lead car for the first time. The car made its debut at the official DTM test on 14th April at the Red Bull Ring. The crossover SUV will also make its first appearance at a race weekend at the Formula 1 circuit in Austria - at the opening round of the DTM season from 24th to 26th April.

As part of the partnership, CUPRA is providing a total of six cars - two safety cars, a lead car, two race control cars, and a medical car. Among the cars provided by CUPRA will be the Formentor VZ5. The top-of-the-range Formentor model went into production in January 2026 and has been given an upgrade for the DTM by Abt Sportsline. The car boasts a 450-hp engine and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds, making it perfectly suited to the roles of safety car and lead car in the DTM.

The partnership between CUPRA and the DTM is not only apparent on the racetrack, but can also be experienced by fans - both on taxi rides with Daniel Abt and within the CUPRA Tribe parade for customers, which forms part of the DTM programme.

As well as the DTM, the official CUPRA Cars are also used in the ADAC GT Masters, ADAC GT4 Germany and the BMW M2 Cup.
