- Newcomer Finn Wiebelhaus joins series as Road to DTM winner
- Ford works driver Arjun Maini sets sights on race wins
- Maini lines up in Ravenol colours, Wiebelhaus in the "Snaffi the Snail" livery
Munich. Road to DTM successfully navigated: Finn Wiebelhaus, last year's winner of the junior category in the ADAC GT Masters, has achieved his goal and lines up with HRT Ford Racing in the DTM. HRT Ford Racing will field two upgraded Mustang GT3 Evo in the prestigious series in 2026, with the youngster from Obertshausen joining the outfit as the team-mate of experienced Ford Racing works driver Arjun Maini (IND). The DTM season kicks off from 24th to 26th April at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
Wiebelhaus won the ADAC GT Masters together with HRT Ford Racing in 2025. The 19-year-old, who is supported by the ADAC Stiftung Sport foundation, will now have the opportunity to showcase his ability with the team in the DTM. "I am overjoyed to be driving the Ford Mustang GT3 for HRT Ford Racing in the DTM," says Wiebelhaus, who is also a Ford development driver. "Ever since I was a kid, I have always dreamed of racing in the DTM. The fact that this dream is now set to come true means more to me than I can put into words. After winning the ADAC GT Masters and the Road to DTM competition, promotion to the DTM feels like a just reward - for the years of hard work and many sacrifices, and for my confidence. I am ready to do everything in my power to get good results and make this season an unforgettable one." The ADAC's youth development programme has played a major role in Wiebelhaus's career to date: having started out in the ADAC Kart Masters and the German Kart Championship, he has risen through the ADAC Formula 4 Junior Team and the ADAC GT Masters to the pinnacle: the DTM.
Team-mate Maini is contesting his sixth season in the DTM this year. So far, the Indian has claimed three podiums and one pole position. "I am totally thrilled and proud to be able to contest another year in the DTM with HRT Ford Racing - my second year as an official Ford Racing driver," says the 28-year-old. "We learned a lot last season, but we showed just how much we were able to improve over the course of the year. That makes me all the more motivated to get stuck into the new DTM season, particularly with the new Evo package for the Ford Mustang GT3. Our goal is to achieve wins and podiums this year."
As he was last year, Maini will be at the wheel of a Ford Mustang GT3 Evo sporting the blue and yellow look of Ravenol in the 2026 DTM. Wiebelhaus lines up in a new design: "Snaffi the Snail" from team partner Kolibri360 will delight DTM fans on the newcomer's Mustang.
The Ford Mustang GT3 has been given an upgrade for 2026, including a modified aerodynamic package. HRT Managing Director Ulrich Fritz is optimistic: "We are very motivated and have prepared meticulously for the new DTM season. Arjun Maini gives us continuity. He knows the challenges of the DTM and is an important factor in our efforts to continuously develop the Ford Mustang GT3 Evo and improve as a team. Finn Wiebelhaus has great potential and deserves his starting place in the DTM, on the back of some outstanding performances. I am very confident that we will enjoy good results together in the 2026 DTM."
