- Comtoyou Racing to run two Vantage GT3
- Newcomer Nicki Thiim out to challenge for race wins
- Second DTM season for Belgian Nicolas Baert
Munich. Fans of the DTM can look forward to seeing cult British manufacturer Aston Martin in action again 2026. The Comtoyou Racing team will run two Aston Martin Vantage GT3 cars in the coming season, and can call upon the services of a real crowd favourite: two-time endurance world champion Nicki Thiim (DK) joins the team from Belgian, which is looking to take the next step after its rookie DTM season in 2025. The second cockpit will be occupied by Belgian's Nicolas Baert.
In Thiim, Comtoyou Racing welcomes on board an experienced GT3 driver. "The DTM is one of the toughest and most fiercely-contested championships in the world," says the Aston Martin works driver. "It is a dream to start together with Aston Martin this year. I have already won with the Vantage in so many other racing series, that I can hardly wait to challenge for victories in the DTM too." The son of DTM icon Kurt Thiim (1986 champion) is a two-time GTE-Pro champion in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). The 36-year-old shared the greatest success in Comtoyou Racing's history, when Thiim and the team celebrated overall victory together at the legendary 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in 2024.
Baert is all set for his second year in the DTM. The son of team owner Jean-Michel Baert gained valuable experience in his rookie season and is now looking to build on that in 2026. "We learned a lot in 2025," the 24-year-old stresses. "This year, we have the advantage of knowing the car, the circuits and the championship. Together with Nicki's experience, from which I can definitely benefit, we have everything we need to make great progress in 2026."
"We are preparing intensely and even more meticulously for the coming DTM season," says Jean-Michel Baert, owner of the Comtoyou Racing team. "Furthermore, we are expanding our activities in Germany, including a possible entry in the ADAC GT Masters. I would like to say a special thank you to Aston Martin Racing, our partners, and all the team members for their commitment, which we share as we take on the challenge of the 2026 DTM."
Adam Carter, Aston Martin Head of Endurance Motorsport, adds: "The DTM is a very well-known and extremely competitive championship. We are proud that our partner Comtoyou Racing has decided to line up with the Aston Martin Vantage GT3. We are also pleased that Nicki Thiim is joining the programme, with his outstanding talent and wealth of experience. We wish him and Nicolas Baert a successful season."
