- Spectacular: Passenger plane takes to the skies sporting a DTM look
- Cooperation with airline German Airways
- German Airways is event partner of the DTM in Hockenheim
Munich. The DTM has liftoff in the final week of the season: Ahead of the deciding race weekend in Hockenheim (3rd to 5th October), the DTM and German Airways, the second-oldest German airline, presented a passenger jet sporting a DTM look. As part of a cooperation with the airline, the Embraer E190-100LR with the identification D-AMWO will now have a spectacular DTM design, as it takes to the skies on its regular service between various German airports and Amsterdam. At an exclusive press conference at Cologne Bonn Airport on Monday, the DTM and German Airways were joined by DTM title contenders Lucas Auer, Jordan Pepper, Ayhancan Güven and Fabio Scherer for the unveiling of the 100-seat plane.
Fans of the DTM and the ADAC GT Masters know German Airways as a partner of HRT Ford Performance and the team's Ford Mustang GT3 – both with Fabio Scherer in the DTM and championship leaders Salman Owega and Finn Wiebelhaus in the ADAC GT Masters. The partnership with the airline means the DTM is now not only prominent on the asphalt, but also above the clouds: The German Airways Embraer will bear the key visual and logo of the racing series, as well as the design of Fabio Scherer's Ford Mustang GT3. The DTM will also be prominent inside the jet - for example, on the head rest covers and in information material in the seat pockets.
"The DTM now also has a spectacular presence above the clouds. DTM race cars and aircraft are equally fascinating - the combination of the two is nothing short of captivating. We are pleased to have been able to acquire this flying brand ambassador together with German Airways. The DTM plane is sure to delight many motorsport fans over the coming weeks - whether on board as a passenger, or at the airport," says ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss.
Maren Wolters, Managing Director of German Airways: "The fascination of flying and the fascination of motorsport - a perfect combination. Speed, absolute precision, consistent performance and technical perfection play a central role in both worlds. We are proud, so near to the end of the season, to have been able to implement this project together and to ensure that this connection is now visible across the whole of Europe."
