- Over 14,000 DTM race laps in aid of b.waterMISSION
- Sustainability initiative helps save over 1.4 million bottles by avoiding single-use plastic and glass bottles, as well as unnecessary transport routes
Munich. A strong statement for sustainability and social responsibility: BWT and the DTM are this year donating € 70,000 to the b.waterMISSION project through the BWT Race Lap Award. The goal of this joint commitment is to construct wells and thereby to guarantee access to clean drinking water, primarily in rural areas of Africa. The donation is based on the 14,029 laps of racing completed by the stars of the DTM in the 2025 season. The DTM's official charity campaign raised € 56,116, and the total was then rounded up to € 70,000. New champion Ayhancan Güven was presented with a symbolic cheque at the finale in Hockenheim.
When it comes to sustainability, BWT and the ADAC have been in the fast lane since the 2021 season. Since then, the BWT Race Lap Award has raised a total of € 320,000. The partnership with the European market leader for water technology from Austria is a clear statement for a better future - one that is less wasteful with resources. The products and technologies of the innovative company, whose unmistakable pink is associated with good conduct and responsibility, combine top quality with sustainability in practice – in keeping with the mission statement: "For You and Planet Blue". Thanks to 65 BWT water dispensers, drivers, teams and visitors can enjoy refreshing, local, mineralised BWT water at every DTM race weekend - all without single-use plastic and glass bottles. Since the start of the project in the ADAC GT Masters in 2021, more than 1.4 million bottles have been saved - 440,000 of them this year alone.
BWT and the DTM also held a joint charity event at the Dekra Lausitzring last season. The "BWT x Windhager Best Water Run" saw the DTM drivers and 200 runners from all areas of the paddock and organisational team run two laps of the 3.478-kilometre circuit. Six euros per participant were donated to b.waterMISSION.
