- Perfect way to warm up for concerts at the season finale in Hockenheim
Munich. Just like the spectacular battles on the track, a powerful sound is an integral part of the DTM. That is reflected in the musical taste of the DTM stars. The new official
DTM playlist is available online now on Spotify, and features the drivers' personal soundtracks. The choices of the starting field are as diverse as the personalities on the grid. From classic rock and hardcore to 90s pop and party hits. Music is part of any race day for the drivers - whether in the car on the way to the circuit, switching off at the hotel, or getting in the zone before the start. For fans, this exclusive compilation is the perfect way to get in the mood for the upcoming DTM finale in Hockenheim (3rd to 5th October), which will also feature musical entertainment in the form of a concert by Kamrad and H-Blockx.
Danish Lamborghini driver Nicki Thiim (Abt Sportsline) is a rocker. He gets into race mode with the punchy guitar sound of cult band Guns N' Roses. Similar sounds are to be heard at McLaren team Dörr Motorsport, where legendary Australian band AC/DC rings out round the garage with familiar classics like "Highway to Hell", "Thunderstruck" and "Back in Black". "On the way to the racetrack, I need music that gets me pumped up. Having Brian Johnson in your ear is the best way of guaranteeing that," says Ben Dörr (Dörr Motorsport) from Butzbach. His team-mate Timo Glock (Kreuzlingen) sees it more as a way of achieving equilibrium: "AC/DC allows me to easily switch off and focus on what really matters."
Music is also a constant companion for Monaco resident Maro Engel (Mercedes-AMG Team Winward Racing): "Songs make me feel good and have a positive influence on my mindset. No matter whether I'm in the car before the race, or listening through my headphones whilst on the move, I almost always have some music playing. At the moment, I am enjoying listening to the latest Linkin Park album 'From Zero'. My daughter also finds the songs really cool." Engel's French team-mate Jules Gounon particularly likes well-known pop songs from the 80s and 90s: "My playlist includes artists like Robbie Williams and Foreigner, as well as songs from the film Dirty Dancing. I also enjoy singing Céline Dion songs with my girlfriend. We have a lot of fun doing that.”
DJ Tomekk has also earned his place on the new DTM playlist with "Fiona - Maschinen aus Stahl", the song for BMW driver Marco Wittmann's "Green Machine". "I don't know any other DTM drivers who have their own song. That is super cool," said the Schubert Motorsport racer from Fürth. The party atmosphere in the garage of TGI Team Lamborghini by GRT comes courtesy of Luca Engstler. The driver from Kempten is the self-appointed team DJ and has a soft spot for 'Ballermann' hits: "We have quite a lot of Majorca music playing. 'Wackelkontakt' by Oimara is a particularly hot favourite to be put on repeat. It is a good way to chill out during a race day, which can be pretty stressful at times.”
With Kamrad and H-Blockx, the playlist offers a perfect taste of things to come at the season finale. The "DTM Powerstage presented by Pirelli" will provide a festival atmosphere during the race weekend in Hockenheim (3rd to 5th October). From 19:00 on the Saturday evening (4th October), both Kamrad and H-Blockx will perform behind the south stand at the Hockenheimring. Admission is free for all DTM ticket holders. Tickets to the DTM finale start at € 49 and are available at
dtm.com. Admission is free for under 16s when accompanied by an adult.
