- DTM is participating in the biggest running event in the world
- Porsche driver Ayhancan Güven leads "Team DTM"
- Anyone can take part: Fans and DTM stars run together in one team
Munich. This weekend, rather than lap times, every step will count. The DTM will be taking part in the Wings for Life World Run on Sunday (4th May). "Team DTM" lines up for a good cause - led by Porsche driver Ayhancan Güven (TR) as team captain. Fans can also become virtual team members and participate in the global charity run together with the stars of the DTM. To register, simply head to
wingsforlifeworldrun.com. The organiser is Wings for Life, the new charity partner of the DTM. The foundation is committed to finding cures for spinal cord injuries and supports top-class research projects and clinical studies.
The Wings for Life World Run gets underway at 13:00 on Sunday. Runners can attend Flagship Runs in various cities, or take part virtually with the Wings for Life World Run App. Anyone wishing to join "Team DTM" can do so via the app or at
wingsforlifeworldrun.com/de/teams/5PgxBX. "As a racing driver, I know what it means to be able to move freely. I am pleased to be running for a good cause along with our fans, and to captain 'Team DTM'," says Güven, who claimed his maiden race victory at the DTM opener in Oschersleben.
Anyone can enter the Wings for Life World Run - whether top athlete, amateur runner, or beginner. Instead of a traditional finish line, there is a so-called Catcher Car, which gradually reels in participants virtually or at an organised run. The entry fee for the race is € 25, all of which goes towards spinal cord research. Among the well-known participants is skiing star Marcel Hirscher. "I am not yet 100 percent fit again after my injury, but I will start anyway. We are running for those who cannot. It is not about top times, but about taking part and the good cause. That is a fantastic initiative," says Hirscher. The multiple Olympic and world champion skier was at the DTM opener at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben to promote the run as ambassador for the Wings for Life foundation.
Since 2004, the Wings for Life foundation has been supporting global research into finding cures for spinal cord injuries. The Wings for Life World Run first took place in 2014, since when more than 1.5 million people have taken part.
