New manufacturers, new stars, new race format - the 2025 DTM

  • High-quality field with nine manufacturers
  • ProSieben to show all races live on German free-to-air TV
  • Family-friendly ticket model: free admission for under 16s

Munich. The 2025 DTM is under starter's orders. Nine premium manufacturers and an international field featuring 24 of the world's best drivers from 12 different countries will take on the challenge of the DTM, going head to head in cars from Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche. Eight race weekends with a total of 16 races in three countries will decide the new champion. The new season kicks off from 25th to 27th April at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. The DTM continues to push ahead with its technological development, as the prestigious series lines up with a new and more climate-friendly synthetic fuel, as well as new Pirelli tyres with sustainable components. The 2025 DTM is presenting itself to the public at the official Test and Media Day, which takes place on Wednesday in Oschersleben. Tickets for the DTM start at € 49 and are available online at dtm.com. Admission is free for under 16s.

Champions, talented newcomers, and the return of a Formula 1 star
With four champions and twelve DTM race winners, it is a stacked field that lines up in the 2025 DTM season. Reigning champion Mirko Bortolotti (Italy) has switched team and has his sights set on defending the title with Abt Sportsline in a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2. "As champion, I come into the new season with the best feeling you can possibly have. Abt Sportsline has always been right up there in the DTM in recent years. We want to push hard together," says Bortolotti. His rivals include two former champions: René Rast (Bregenz) and Marco Wittmann (Fürth) from Schubert Motorsport start in two brand-new BMW M4 GT3 Evo.

Timo Glock is making his DTM comeback this year. The former Formula 1 driver lines up in a McLaren 720S GT3 Evo for Dörr Motorsport. "I have been travelling around the world as a racing driver for 25 years, I love the adrenalin and still feel passionate about the sport. I see my challenge as being to help Dörr Motorsport progress in one of the strongest racing series in the world," says Glock. Maro Engel (Monaco) is planning another assault on the title. The man who finished third last year comes into his ninth DTM season with Mercedes-AMG Team Winward.

Aston Martin and Ford strengthen the DTM
With the addition of Aston Martin and Ford, the field has grown to nine premium manufacturers - more than there has been in the DTM since the 1987 season. HRT Ford Performance lines up with two Mustang GT3. In the cockpit of the two cars from the USA will be Ford works driver Arjun Maini (India) and Switzerland's Fabio Scherer, whose CV includes a Le Mans victory in the LMP2 class. Comtoyou Racing is new to the series. The Belgian team is responsible for the DTM debut of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 and has turned to two compatriots in Nicolas Baert and Gilles Magnus. Another newcomer is Land-Motorsport, for whom Swiss driver Ricardo Feller, a two-time race winner in the DTM, will be at the wheel of the Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo2.

New race format makes for even more excitement
A new race format awaits the DTM stars. As of this season, each Sunday race will see the teams scrap for every fraction of a second during two mandatory pit stops, guaranteeing even more thrills and spills. The Saturday race continues to feature just one stop. All 16 races will last 55 minutes plus one lap. Should the Cupra Safety Car make an appearance, the race distance can be extended by a maximum two joker laps.

New synthetic fuel
"With the strong field and a wide variety of manufacturers, everything is in place to make it an exciting DTM season," says Dr. Gerd Ennser, ADAC Sport President, ahead of the third DTM season under the umbrella of the ADAC. "We are also continuing on the path we have embarked upon to achieve sustainable and future-oriented structures in the DTM. With the 'DTM Pro Climate' fuel from our partner Coryton, we are introducing a new climate-friendly and synthetic fuel that reduces CO₂ emissions." The sustainability concept of the DTM is also enhanced by the new slicks from partner Pirelli - the P Zero DHG contains an FSC-certified natural rubber component.

All races live on ProSieben
ProSieben and Joyn are once again TV and streaming partner of the DTM in 2025. The broadcaster will show all of the season's races live and in full on free-to-air television, as well as streaming them on Joyn. The races and qualifying can also be seen in a livestream on ran.de and the @DTM YouTube channel. The DTM is broadcast live or replayed in full in over 150 territories around the world. Fans can find even more information on the DTM in the official DTM app, which is available free of charge in app stores.

New partner and plenty of highlights on the support programme
During the Media Day, the DTM presented a new partner: Germany's largest cinema chain, CineStar, is now a partner of the DTM. At the heart of the collaboration are cinema adverts throughout Germany and campaigns on site. Visitors to races and the cinema can also enjoy joint ticket promotions with attractive discounts.

Visitors can also look forward to an exciting support programme at DTM weekends. As well as the ADAC GT Masters, ADAC GT4 Germany and the Prototype Cup Germany, the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland will also feature regularly on the programme. Spectators will also enjoy a fully-electric racing series, in the form of the NXT Gen Cup. Over the course of the season, the Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux and Formula Regional Championship powered by Alpine will also make guest appearances.
