- New DTM racing tyre with FSC certification
- First use in pre-season test at Oschersleben
Munich. The DTM relies this year on a new slick tyre with sustainable components from exclusive partner Pirelli. The new P Zero DHG features a number of innovations and underlines the DTM's goal of making motorsport future-oriented: the natural rubber components of these new tyres are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). All the natural rubber used in the new DTM tyres comes from plantations that are managed in a way that benefits the people who live and work there and preserves biodiversity. The new Pirelli tyres will be used for the first time in DTM at the official pre-season test at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben on 2 April.
"With its FSC certification, Pirelli's new slick tyre also underlines our commitment to the motorsport of the future," says ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss. "Together with our new, 100% sustainable fuel, the new tyre fits perfectly into our sustainability concept."
Pirelli is the exclusive tyre supplier for the DTM, which means that all Audi, Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche cars up to 600 hp will be fitted with the new P Zero DHG from this year. In addition to the natural rubber components the most important innovations of the P Zero DHG are the materials that allow a wider operating range and a faster warm-up.
Last season, Pirelli chose the DTM for the premiere of the newly developed Cinturato WHB rain tyre. From this year, the tyre also contains FSC-certified natural rubber. The new compounds help to increase the contact area while optimising grip and warm-up behaviour at low temperatures. It also extends the tyre's race window.
Note:
The natural rubber components of the new P Zero DHG are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). This corresponds to 17 per cent of the total weight of the tyre.
Pirelli tyres (FSC™N003618) are certified as MIX Natural Rubber FSC™. This certification means that their production uses a combination of natural and synthetic rubber. This complies with the FSC™ ADVICE-40-004-15 standard.
