- Manthey adds a new Junior Team to its contingent in the DTM
- Clear goal: Manthey has sights set on second DTM title
Munich. All good things come in threes: Manthey is expanding its involvement in the DTM in 2025 and will line up with three Porsche 911 GT3 R for the first time. Two of the three drivers that won the Team title in 2023 are back for more: Thomas Preining (Austria),the 2023 DTM champion, enters his third season with Manthey EMA, while Ayhancan Güven (Turkey) is behind the wheel for the team from the Nürburgring for the second year. Joining them is talented 19-year-old Morris Schuring, who will race for the Manthey Junior Team. The youngest Dutchman in the history of the DTM is set to make his debut at the season-opener, which takes place from 25th to 27th April at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.
Porsche works drivers Preining and Güven, two experienced Porsche works drivers, remain with the team and will again drive a Porsche 911 GT3 R in the iconic Grello livery. Güven continues at the wheel of the number 90 car, while Preining will have his sights set on success in the number 91. Manthey will present the design of Schuring's 911 at a later date.
"Having failed to live up to our expectations in 2024, despite being very happy with our team performance, we are looking forward to racing in the DTM with an even stronger line-up in 2025. We are looking to go on the attack again in our third season in the series," says Nicolas Raeder, Managing Director of Manthey Racing GmbH. "I am pleased with the consistency that comes with still having Ayhancan and Thomas in the team, and hope that this year's results will reflect the excellent cooperation. Morris had a very successful season in WEC in 2024. He is a young driver who has really impressed us with his performances, and the DTM is therefore the next logical step for him."
Thomas Preining claimed one victory last year and ended the season in fifth place in the championship. Now in his fourth season in the DTM, he is hungry to challenge for the title again: "I am pleased that everything is still as it was, and that we are continuing to work together as a team. I believe that consistency is hugely important in our sport, and that it really helps to work with the same people for several years. You grow stronger together, and we will try to use that to our advantage this year. We have already had an awful lot of nice moments together. 2024 was certainly a tough season for us, but that is part and parcel of motor racing and will make us stronger in the end. We are now back with a clear goal: to be crowned champions again!"
Having picked up his first podium for Manthey EMA at last season's finale, Ayhancan Güven is hungry for more trophies: "I am pleased to be starting for Manthey again in the 2025 DTM! Last season, we did not meet our expectations. However, we improved a lot over the course of the year, particularly in the second half of the season, when I also celebrated my first podium with the team in the DTM. That is our starting point for 2025. I know what we can achieve and what results we are capable of, so our goals are ambitious. Preparations are running smoothly and I can hardly wait for the start of the new season!"
A place in the DTM is a dream come true for Schuring: "The DTM is a series, in which I always wanted to drive. It is a dream come true and I am really proud to be fulfilling that dream with Manthey. The team proved that it is one of the best when it won the DTM title in 2023. Last year, we won Le Mans together and I am thrilled that we are now working together in a sprint series too. I love sprints and have the opportunity to really prove myself as a driver in the DTM. Thanks to my time in the Porsche Carrera Cup, I am already familiar with seven of the DTM circuits - only the Norisring will be new to me. I am very motivated and have worked very hard over the winter, to ensure that I am as well prepared as possible. I am also proud to be able call Ayhancan and Thomas my team-mates. I know them from previous races. They are both good drivers and I have a lot of respect for them."
