- Italian wins the DTM for the first time with Lamborghini and SSR Performance
Hockenheim. Mirko Bortolotti (I) is the 2024 DTM champion. The 34-year-old showed nerves of steel at the finale at the Hockenheimring Baden-Württemberg and won the DTM title for the first time on Sunday, as the curtain came down on the 40th year of this prestigious series. The Italian, who now lives in Vienna, travelled as championship leader to the showdown in Hockenheim, but lost his lead to Kelvin van der Linde (ZA) on Saturday. The Lamborghini works driver hit back with second place in the final race to clinch the first championship for Lamborghini and the SSR Performance team from Munich. In doing so, he also ensured that the DTM trophy returns to Italy for the first time since 1993 (Nicola Larini with Alfa Romeo). A detailed report and profile of new DTM champion Mirko Bortolotti will follow.
