- Change of manufacturer: Ex-Formula 1 driver in a McLaren
- Dörr Motorsport to field two McLaren 720S GT3 Evo in the 2025 DTM
Munich. He once drove for Toyota and Jordan in Formula 1. Now, after nine years with BMW, he takes his place at the wheel of a McLaren in the DTM for the first time: crowd favourite Timo Glock (42) is set to make the DTM comeback of the year when he returns to the series in 2025. After a three-year break, the popular German, whose illustrious career includes 91 Grand Prix starts, will line up in a McLaren 720S GT3 Evo for Dörr Motorsport, where he will be the team-mate of young driver Ben Dörr (19). Glock’s first DTM outing in the McLaren will be at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben near Magdeburg from 25th to 27th April. ProSieben is broadcasting all the races live on free-to-air TV.
“The contact and my passion for the DTM never really went away. I believe it is a very good and exciting project. Dörr Motorsport is looking to take the next step with me – which makes me proud. I am confident that I can help the team with my experience. I will play a central role in the structure of the team. Our goal is to consistently finish in the top ten in our second year. Maybe we could even pick up some podiums. I definitely feel ready, am fully motivated, and can hardly wait to go racing again. I am really looking forward to the challenge and to working with Rainer Dörr and the whole team. There is absolutely no doubt that I still have what it takes – I am utterly convinced of that,” says Glock.
“We are very proud to welcome Timo Glock into our team,” says team owner Rainer Dörr, whose team has great plans for its second season in the DTM. “I believe that having a driver with so much expertise and such an impressive career is a fantastic addition – not only for us as a team, but also for the DTM.”
With the duo of Glock and Dörr, the youngest driver in this year’s DTM field, the McLaren has a healthy mix of experience and youth. Dörr, a McLaren Junior Pro Driver and part of the British sports car manufacturer’s youth development programme, will line up in his second year in the DTM and is looking forward to tapping into the Formula 1 experience of his team-mate: “It is a great honour to have such a successful and experienced team-mate as Timo at my side. I am sure I can learn a lot from him, both on and off the track.”
Glock drove exclusively for BMW in the DTM from 2013 to 2021, during which time he won five races. Between 2004 and 2012 he raced in Formula 1 and claimed three podiums.
