NXT Gen Cup energises the 2025 DTM

  • Fully-electric racing series with twelve races on DTM weekends
  • NXT Gen Cup to feature at season highlight at the Norisring in Nuremberg
  • Innovative concept fits in with sustainable alignment of the DTM

Munich. The NXT Gen Cup remains part of the DTM family next year. In 2025, every race in the world's first fully-electric junior touring car series will be contested at DTM race weekends. The NXT Gen Cup will enhance the programme at four events on the ADAC's high-profile platform. A total of twelve races are planned, including at the Norisring in Nuremberg (4th to 6th July), the Nürburgring (8th to 10th August) and the Sachsenring (22nd to 24th August). Which DTM event will host the opening round of the season in the Swedish racing series will be announced at a later date.

"For the past two years, the NXT Gen Cup has shown emphatically just how well fully-electric racing cars and thrilling motorsport go hand in hand. With the innovative electric concept of the NXT Gen Cup and synthetic fuels in the DTM, we are demonstrating sustainable diversity in the drive types on the DTM platform, and are showing how spectacular motorsport can be without using fossil resources in the drive system," says ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss.

The standard car used in the NXT Gen Cup is the 230-hp LRT NXT1, which is based on the road-approved Mini Cooper SE. The touring car series is primarily aimed at talented youngsters. "We will continue to offer our young drivers a comprehensive development programme next year, and will do this at events within the professional environment of the DTM," says Fredrik Lestrup, founder of the NXT Gen Cup. "We have already received multiple applications for 2025 and are confident that the third season will be our best so far."
