Breaking News – Thomas Preining is 2023 DTM champion

  • The Austrian and Porsche claim their first DTM title in Hockenheim

Hockenheim. Thomas Preining (A) is the new DTM champion. The 25-year-old showed nerves of steel at the season finale in Hockenheim to become the first Austrian to win the title in the internationally popular racing series on Sunday. The Porsche driver came into the deciding race weekend at the Hockenheimring as the championship leader, and extended his advantage with a lights-to-flag victory on Saturday. Thanks to the three points he picked up for first place in qualifying on Sunday morning, Preining now has an unassailable lead over his closest rival Mirko Bortolotti (I) going into this afternoon’s final race. A detailed report and profile of the new DTM champion will follow shortly.
