dtm.com. Last weekend’s premiere of the DTM Track Safari at the Nürburgring allowed participants to experience motorsport from a totally new perspective. In a separate session, the fans took to the Eifel circuit in buses, while the powerful DTM race cars hurtled past them. This very special racetrack expedition now enters its second round at the Lausitzring.
“We want to bring motorsport closer to the public. With the DTM, we are playing a pioneering role in making race weekends even more attractive for fans. On the Track Safari, spectators can experience the race cars up close and personal. The premiere at the Nürburgring went down really well. We cannot offer the Track Safari at every racetrack, but are looking forward to this special experience at the Lausitzring,” said ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss.
The Track Safari provided some spectacular images at the Nürburgring, as the powerful GT3 cars raced through the corners next to the large buses. The experience gave the fans goosebumps and was also enjoyed by the drivers. “It was cool to share the track with the fans. I think we put on a great show for the spectators. The sprint variant of the Nürburgring is really narrow, so we were particularly close to the buses,” said Porsche driver Laurin Heinrich (Würzburg). Reigning champion Sheldon van der Linde (ZA) was also impressed by the Track Safari: “The session at the Nürburgring was a thrilling experience for everyone involved. In the chicane, I leapt over the kerb on two wheels right next to the bus. I hope the fans enjoyed it as much as I did.”
