Munich/Herzogenaurach. The stage is set for the future of the DTM: Schaeffler remains true to the DTM as a partner of the series, which is now under the umbrella of the ADAC. As official innovation partner, the world’s leading supplier to the automotive and industrial sectors will work with the ADAC on the technical and strategic development of the DTM. On the track, Marco Wittmann drivers the Project 1 BMW M4 GT3 in the striking green Schaeffler design. The 33-year-old from Fürth has represented the company as an ambassador in the DTM since 2019.
“Innovation runs in Schaeffler’s blood. It is essential to an efficient and sustainable mobility of the future – something we are playing a significant role in helping to shape,” says Matthias Zink, CEO Automotive Technologies at Schaeffler. “With the DTM too, we want to continue to lead the way as a mobility pioneer and, together with the ADAC, to develop the racing series technically and strategically. For this reason, there was no doubt that we would continue our partnership with the DTM.”
Schaeffler is using the DTM platform to develop and showcase cutting-edge technology. With the “Space Drive” steer-by-wire system, Schaeffler presented an innovation in 2021 that made it possible to control the braking and transmission in a car electronically, as well as the steering. One of the ways the company demonstrates this achievement is in the Schaeffler Innovation Taxi, which will be in action at all DTM events this year. Schaeffler also develops and manufactures drive systems for electric motorsport. This includes powerful, reliable components and systems for partial and full electrification, as well as fuel cell drive systems.
Thomas Voss, ADAC Motorsport President: “Schaeffler has been associated with the DTM for a long time and, as official innovation partner, we will shape the series together in the future. With its expertise and know-how, Schaeffler is a factor in the success of innovations in motorsport. We are confident that the DTM will continue to be an exciting environment and offer potential for transformative processes.”
With its innovations, Schaeffler is driving the technological future forward and, in doing so, laying the foundations for people to travel as efficiently, safely and sustainably as possible in the future. The technology company develops components and systems for electromobility, CO₂-efficient drive systems, chassis solutions, and high-precision bearings. With more than 1,300 patent applications, Schaeffler was the fourth most innovative company in Germany in 2022, according to the DPMA (German Patent and Trade Mark Office. Schaeffler puts many technologies and systems through extreme tests in competitive conditions at the racetrack. The resulting findings are incorporated in the research and development of series products.
