ADAC TCR Germany start up in 2016

• ADAC to bring new touring car series to Germany in 2016
• Multi-brand touring car racing at ADAC GT Masters events
• SPORT1 will broadcast ADAC TCR Germany races

Munich. The ADAC will introduce a new touring car series in 2016 - the ADAC TCR Germany. The concept behind TCR (Touring Car Racing) which makes multi brand touring car racing on a reasonable budget possible, gained acceptance in 2015 when it enjoyed a successful international launch. Next year, ADAC TCR Germany will become one of the first touring car series to implement the new concept at national level. ADAC TCR Germany promises spectacular and exciting touring car racing and will be staged jointly by Engstler Motorsport and the ADAC e.V. as part of the ADAC GT Masters, generally speaking. Agreement was reached between Engstler Motorsport and the ADAC e.V. during the ADAC GT Masters at the Sachsenring as regards the organisation of ADAC TCR Germany. It is also envisaged that SPORT1 will show certain ADAC TCR races on TV in Germany.

Touring cars such as the Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Opel Astra OPC, Seat Leon and the Volkswagen Golf will contest next year's ADAC TCR Germany. The production based touring cars are powered by a two-litre turbo engine producing around 320bhp and offer an affordable route into touring car racing with a purchase price of between 80,000-100,000 euros. Two sprint races will be held every race weekend.
