ADAC to organise the IDM from 2027

• IDM to be realigned under the umbrella of the ADAC

Munich. ADAC e.V. will organise the International German Motorcycle Championship (IDM) from the 2027 season. The pinnacle of German motorcycle circuit racing lined up as Euro Moto in 2026, but now returns to the traditional title “IDM” from the coming season. The ADAC is taking over the platform from Motor Presse, which is stepping back from the role of IDM promoter at its own request. Pirelli will remain exclusive tyre partner of the IDM.

The IDM is set to be realigned under the umbrella of the ADAC. The focus will be on systematic youth development, clear sporting and organisational structures, and expanding the series into a family-friendly motorsport platform. The series will serve as a central development platform and a springboard to international motorcycle racing.

“We want to sustainably strengthen motorcycle circuit racing in Germany, and to systematically promote young riders – with the clear goal of having a greater presence on the international scene in the coming years. In recent years, we have established complete development programmes for youngsters. We also organise one of the biggest sporting events in the country: the very successful Motorcycle Grand Prix at the Sachsenring. With the IDM, we are now taking responsibility for the entire pinnacle of German motorcycle circuit racing. We want to open new avenues for existing competitors and talented youngsters. Reliable regulations and better entry opportunities
The sporting concepts sees the Superbike class continue as the top category. There will be particular emphasis on the Sportbike class, which will be strengthened as a junior platform. Together with the Supersport class, they form the three planned classes in the IDM. Clear, comprehensible and consistent regulations will make the competition more transparent, and give teams greater planning security.

The Pirelli tyres are a dependable factor in the technology package. Pirelli will remain tyre partner of the IDM under the umbrella of the ADAC, and will continue to exclusively supply the three classes.

Greater proximity to the fans
The IDM will also be given new impetus away from the racetrack. Plans are afoot to expand fan activities in the paddock in the medium term. This will ensure that the series appeals more to motorsport fans and families alike.

The 2027 calendar consists of seven events between May and September. Races are planned to take place at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, in Brno and Most in the Czech Republic, at the DEKRA Lausitzring, in Assen in the Netherlands, at the Nürburgring, and in Hockenheim.
