BWT Mücke Motorsport enters the Prototype Cup Germany

  • Iconic Berlin-based team to run an LMP3 race car for the first time
  • Nico Göhler and Gustavo Kiryla are the two drivers

Munich. Spectacular newcomer to the Prototype Cup Germany: BWT Mücke Motorsport will line up with a Le Mans prototype for the first time in 2023 and has selected the series organised by the ADAC and Creventic for its debut. The car of choice is a Duqueine D08, which will start in the striking BWT pink. The cockpit will be shared by two talented youngsters in Nico Göhler and Gustavo Kiryla. The opening round of this season’s Prototype Cup Germany takes place as part of the ADAC Racing Weekend at the Hockenheimring from 28th to 30th April.

Mücke Motorsport has been firmly established in the world of ADAC Motorsport for many years. As well as the ADAC GT Masters, the team from Berlin has also gone racing in ADAC Formula 4 – and has enjoyed success in both series. “LMP3 is a new step for our team, and one we are very much looking forward to. The Prototype Cup Germany is very interesting for talented youngsters, particularly with the increased involvement of manufacturers with the new LMDh cars. We have every chance of competing at the front and being able to set our sights on the championship,” says team manager Stefan Mücke. “At the same time, I personally have a very close association with endurance racing. I have driven in a lot of races with prototypes, in the WEC and Le Mans.”

Gustavo Kiryla will have a long journey to the season-opener at the circuit near Heidelberg. The 28-year-old from Curitiba in Brazil has been racing prototypes in his homeland since 2020. With success: In 2022 he won the title in the Império Endurance Brasil series. This season, he will start on the European racing scene in the LMP3 of BWT Mücke Motorsport.

“I am thrilled to be joining such a reputable and successful team,” says Kiryla of his involvement with BWT Mücke Motorsport. “This racing team has a really impressive history. I feel honoured to now be a part of it. I am looking forward to working with such a talented group of people and contributing to the further success of the team. I want to learn as much as possible from my team-mates and use my skills to help the team achieve more victories. It is really a dream come true.”

19-year-old German Nico Göhler has been racing Formula cars since 2018, meaning he knows the European racetracks like the back of his hand. In 2019, he started in ADAC Formula 4. His career path has now taken him via Formula 3 and the Formula Regional European Championship to LMP3 racing. “I know the team from the past and have already enjoyed a number of successes with them,” says Göhler. “We have shown that, as a team, we can emphatically overcome new challenges. For this reason, I am confident that our entry in the LMP3 class will also be a successful one. The start of the season cannot come soon enough.”
