- Konrad Motorsport is the top team in the 2025 Prototype Cup Germany
- Victory in the final race goes to Riccardo Leone Cirelli and Mattias Bjerre Jakobsen
- Newcomer Miro Konopka finishes as the best-placed Trophy driver
Spielberg. The 2025 Prototype Cup Germany season ended with victory for Riccardo Leone Cirelli (17/ITA) and Mattias Bjerre Jakobsen (18/DEN, both BWT Mücke Motorsport), who found themselves down in fourth place after the opening lap, but successfully took the lead on lap 25. Second place at the Red Bull Ring went to Maksymilian Angelard (18/POL) and Mattis Pluschkell (21/Elmenhorst, both BWT Mücke Motorsport), who also secured the title of top Juniors in the 2025 Prototype Cup Germany. The German/Polish combination also finished second in the Drivers’ Championship. Third place in the final race of the season went to Maxim Dirickx (21/BEL) and Sven Barth (44/Eberbach, both Aust Motorsport), ahead of Danny Soufi (22/USA) and Pavel Lefterov (27/BUL, both Konrad Motorsport). That result for Soufi and Lefterov was enough to earn Konrad Motorsport the Team title. “In the first phase of the race I tried to follow Keanu ahead of me, until he headed into a gravel bed and later retired. After that, I attempted to prevent the gap to Mattis at the front from growing too large,” said Jakobsen. The Dane then handed the car over to Cirelli, who was first able to reel in Angelard and then wasted little time in overtaking the Pole. “After the pit stop, I pushed as hard as I could. I was pretty cross with myself, because I was too seconds too late leaving the pits. Once I had overtaken Maksymilian, I slowed down a bit to look after the tyres. The end of the season could not have been better, with two wins,” said the delighted Italian.
Keanu Al-Azhari (17/UAE, Mühlner Motorsport) found himself in the lead at the start, but had lost it to Pluschkell by the end of the opening lap. The Mücke driver held onto first place until the driver changeover, while Al-Azhari retired after skidding off into the gravel bed. That left Jakobsen to inherit second place ahead of Dirickx. Once all the pit stops had been completed, Angelard led the race, followed by Cirelli and Barth. Cirelli consistently closed in on Angelard, until he was able to overtake his team-mate. Once out in front, there was no denying him the win.
Angelard and Pluschkell were second across the finish line. As a result, they ended the season with six points more to their name in the Junior competition than Jakobsen and Cirelli. In the battle for second place in the Drivers’ Championship, they finished just two points ahead of their Danish/Italian rivals. Dirickx and Barth came home third in the race and ended the season in fourth place in the Drivers’ Championship. Dirickx took third place in the Junior classification.
Soufi and Lefterov finished just outside the podium places in fourth, ahead of Zino-Ferret Fahlke (18/Hergiswil, Konrad Motorsport), who was fifth. Sixth-placed Miro Konopka (63/SVK, ARC Bratislava) celebrated victory in the Trophy competition after a good battle with Thomas Ambiel (45/Eppingen, Rinaldi Racing), while Michael Herich (48/Brühl, Gebhardt Intralogistics Motorsport) spun out of the race. Together with team-mate Mikkel C. Johansen (38/DEN, Gebhardt Intralogistics Motorsport), he was given eighth place in the final classification.
Mattis Pluschkell (runner-up): “I was at the wheel for the start and took the lead on lap one. My pace was good at first, but then the tyres overheated a little. For me, it was more important not to make any mistakes or risk a DNF. Maksymilian took over the car in the lead, but he had no chance against Riccardo. We knew beforehand that our sister car, with Riccardo and Mattias at the wheel, was faster than us. Despite this, second place today is a nice result, as it helped us to victory in the Junior competition and the runner-up spot in the championship.”
Maksymilian Angelard (runner-up): “Mattis put in a good first stint. I then primarily tried to drive safely, not to get too close to the limit, and not to take any risks. For this reason, I did not put up a fight when Riccardo overtook me. I knew that second place would also be enough to win the Junior competition and finish second in the Drivers’ Championship. The team also did a good job today, the car was better today than it was in race one.”
Maxim Dirickx (third): “My start was good and I overtook Pavel shortly thereafter. After that, I did my laps without making any mistakes and handed the car over to Sven. He then did a really good job, as he was under pressure from Danny Soufi the whole time. He simply refused to give up third place. Although it is obviously a shame that we dropped back in the overall and Junior classifications, I am still very happy with our season.”
Sven Barth (third): “I headed out in third place and reached the finish third. Through all that, I had Danny Soufi filling my rear-view mirror the entire time. I used all my experience to keep him behind me. It is a shame that we only finished fourth in the championship, but I think our season was really good on the whole.”
