- Konrad Motorsport remains true to the LMP3 project
- Danny Soufi set for his fourth season
- American has seen positive development of the series
Munich. Last year’s runner-up Danny Soufi and Konrad Motorsport will team up again in the 2025 Prototype Cup Germany, which is organised by the ADAC and Creventic. American Soufi has been a regular at Konrad Motorsport since 2022, was crowned Junior champion last year and, together with his team-mate Torsten Kratz, ended the season in second place in the overall table. He is now looking to take the next step together with the Konrad team: “We want to finish one position higher in the coming season – so, to win the title.”
Soufi arrived in Europe in 2022, still a relatively inexperienced racing driver, but soon found a home at Konrad Motorsport. “I am still grateful to Franz Konrad for giving me the opportunity in the Prototype Cup Germany. The cooperation with Konrad Motorsport has definitely changed my life, as I could not operate at this high level of professional motorsport without it.” There was never any question of Soufi changing team: “I never even considered switching to another team. I feel happy at Konrad and want to have success with this team.”
Despite his experience in the Prototype Cup Germany, the Texan does not yet consider himself an old hand. “We are only entering our second season with the Ligier chassis. In recent weeks, we used the Prototype Winter Series to adapt even better to the car.” Soufi demonstrated that emphatically with victory in the winter series, which takes place in Portugal and Spain. “Entering this racing series was a good opportunity to prepare for the coming season in the Prototype Cup Germany – for me as a driver, but also for the team. We are understanding the Ligier better all the time. The fact that we were able to win the title against some strong opposition is a good sign and pleases me greatly.”
The 21-year-old believes the Prototype Cup Germany is moving in the right direction. “There are some talented starters, and the field has grown stronger from year to year. I believe it will take another step forward in 2025, in terms of the standard of racing. Personally, I really like this series and particularly the format with the sprint races.” It is yet to be confirmed whether Soufi will be gunning for success with a team-mate, or alone in the car. “Both have pros and cons, and I am familiar with both situations. If you drive alone, you have much more driving time, but you also have to spend more time stationary during the pit stop. If you have a team-mate in the same car, the work outside the car is more fun and you can learn from each other.”
