- Title race heats up at challenging circuit in Zandvoort
Munich. Sim racing in the Dutch dunes: The ADAC GT Masters eSports Championship powered by EnBW Mobility+ enters the second half of the season with round four in Zandvoort on 29th March 2022. It is set to be exciting again at the top of the table: Christopher Högfeldt (Virtualdrivers by TX3) has already won four races this season, but conceded a large portion of his championship lead at the Nürburgring and must now be careful not to allow his closest rivals, Bence Bánki (Dörr Esports – Ascher Racing) and Jack Keithley (Williams Esports), to close the gap any further. The event in the eSports championship, which boasts a prize purse of € 70,000, will be streamed live from 19:15 on Tuesday evening at
youtube.com/adac,
adac.de/motorsport and on the ADAC GT Masters Facebook page.
Zandvoort is one of the unique challenges on the calendar for the ADAC GT Masters eSports Championship. In the heart of the dunes on the North Sea coast, the sim racers must cope with banked corners and sand on the track in places. The layout itself is also regarded as being very technically very demanding. The evening of racing kicks off with a 10-minute qualifying session, in which the starting grid is determined for the subsequent 15-minute sprint race. This is followed by a second qualifying, again over ten minutes. In the 30-minute main race, all the competitors must complete a mandatory pit stop.
Högfeldt made the perfect start to the season, with four wins in the first four races. However, the Swede was unable to back this up at the Nürburgring, where he finished ninth and tenth. Instead, it was Moritz Löhner (Dörr Esports) who surprised everyone with a brace of victories, as he recovered strongly from a difficult start to the season.
As well as the 28 permanent competitors, each event also features four guest starters who qualify ahead of the respective event via the “Community Monday Race” on RaceRoom.
