Paddock radar from the ADAC GT Masters at the Sachsenring

  • First public outing for new 2016 model Porsche
  • ADAC GT Masters quicker than top class of MotoGP motorcycle series
  • Albert von Thurn und Taxis attends ADAC GT Masters media event

Australian guests: Andrew Papadopoulos, President of the Australian Motorsport Federation, CAMS (Confederation of Australian Motorsport), had the longest journey to the ADAC GT Masters at the Sachsenring. He was accompanied by Michael Smith, CAMS General Manager of Motorsport. The two Australians were on a fact-finding mission and spoke with Lars Soutschka, Director of ADAC Motorsport about the ADAC GT Masters and the structure of German motor racing. They also followed the performance of fellow Australian Joey Mawson, who is fighting for the championship in ADAC Formula 4.

Albert von Thurn und Taxis at media event: Albert von Thurn und Taxis took part in a media event on Thursday evening prior to his first start in this year´s ADAC GT Masters. In an informal setting, von Thurn und Taxis talked with numerous journalists about the weekend ahead in a Lamborghini Gallardo. Championship leader Luca Ludwig, local driver Philip Geipel and ADAC Formula 4 championship leader Marvin Dienst were also present.

Fans get even closer to the action: Fans have been able to get even closer to the action at the ADAC GT Masters since the Nürburgring weekend. In especially reserved "fan garages", fans could get a close look at what's happening in the pit lane and watch teams work on the super sports cars. These spectator boxes will continue to be a feature at future events depending on local conditions.

Premiere of new Porsche: The new 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 R was first seen live on track by public at Sachsenring. Patrick Simon, racing driver and TV host on SPORT1's live broadcasts from the ADAC GT Masters, posted a few laps in the new Porsche for SPORT1's track presentation of the Sachsenring and was impressed with the new GT racing car developed for the 2016 season.

'Ostalgie' party: BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert and local outfit YACO Racing held a party in the ADAC GT Masters paddock on Saturday evening at the Sachsenring. The theme of the night's festivities was 'Ostalgie', harking back to the old days of life in East Germany. Schubert had good reason to celebrate after the team's third win of the season.

ADAC GT Masters quicker than Rossi and Marquez: Sachsenring is the German home of the MotoGP motorcycle world championship. But the ADAC GT Masters supercars are even faster than the racing bikes contesting the top class of the MotoGP. Marc Marquez, winner of the GoPro German Grand Prix in July, was around half a second slower on his fastest qualifying lap than Klaus Bachler, who set a new ADAC GT Masters qualifying record for the Sachsenring in the Porsche 911 during qualifying for Sunday's ADAC GT Masters race.

Formula 1 in Schools: A team of contestants taking part in the Formula 1 in Schools technology competition visited the ADAC GT Masters at Sachsenring. The group of students were invited to call on BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert where they were able to get a glimpse behind the scenes. They also had a chance to inspect the starting grid. Formula 1 in Schools is an international technology competition for students aged eleven to 19. Competitors develop a scale model of a Formula 1 car on the computer which they then construct and race.
