ADAC GT Masters with full grid in 2016

  • 28 super sportscars representing seven different marques had already entered
  • The 2016 entry list is dominated by the latest generation of super sportscars
  • New teams join ADAC GT Masters in 2016

Munich. The ADAC GT Masters will have a full grid for the start of its tenth season in 2016. A total of 28 super sportscars fielded by 17 teams had already entered by the end of November. All the entries made available to teams for an early registering have now been taken. Super sportscars from seven manufacturers are represented in the field, including the latest models of the Audi R8, Porsche 911, Corvette, BMW M6, Lamborghini Huracán and Mercedes-AMG GT3. The ADAC is keeping a maximum of six more places on the grid open until the closing date for entries on March 14th 2016 for teams and brands that can best add further spice to the field.

“The line-up for the 2016 ADAC GT Masters is truly worthy of an anniversary season,” said ADAC Sport President Hermann Tomczyk. “That we already have a full grid four months before the start of the season speaks volumes for the way the series has developed. The many new super sportscars joining the ADAC GT Masters next year will make it even more spectacular and more exciting.”

“The enormous interest shown in the 2016 ADAC GT Masters underlines the steady increase in the attractiveness of the series and proves that we are on the right track with our concept and our ADAC GT Masters platform,” said ADAC Director of Motorsport and Classic Motoring Lars Soutschka. “We can certainly look forward to seeing some very interesting racing in the tenth season of the series thanks to the high degree of planning security. We also have an attractive schedule with a highlight event in conjunction with the DTM and a comprehensive television package provided by our exclusive TV partner SPORT1.”

The field next year in the ADAC GT Masters will be dominated by the latest generation of super sportscars. The BMW M6 and Mercedes-AMG GT will make their racing debut in the ADAC GT Masters next year, as will the latest versions of the Porsche 911 and Audi R8, which is the supercar of choice for teams in the 2016 season with ten vehicles in the field. The proven and successful predecessor to the R8 is also well represented in the line-up, as are both generations of the Corvette, including the new C7 as well as the tried and trusted Z06. The Lamborghini Huracán has already had a successful test outing with a race win at the Red Bull Ring this year and will line up for every fixture in 2016. The Nissan GT-R is also back in the field in 2016. Apart from the new supercars, four new teams will line up for the first time in the Super Sports Car League.

All the ADAC GT Masters races will again be broadcast live and in full length by SPORT1 on free-to-air TV in 2016. Germany’s leading sports broadcaster has already extended the TV contract up to and including 2017 well before the renewal date. The ADAC GT Masters will line up in the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben on the weekend of April 15th-17th, 2016.
