ADAC GT Masters enhances status of Gentlemen class

  • Modified regulations make Gentlemen class even more attractive
  • ADAC GT Masters awards Gentlemen class with prize money of 75.000 Euro
  • Extra free practice session and new points system to continue

Munich. The ADAC GT Masters Gentlemen class is set to become even more attractive in the 2015 season. Changes to various aspects of the regulations have created an interesting framework for Gentlemen drivers in the Super Sports Car League and promise to make the class even more competitive.

In the 2015 season, the ADAC GT Masters will introduce up to four void results in the Gentlemen class. Consequently, a maximum of 12 results out of the 16 races will be considered for the Gentlemen championship. The introduction of the void results system gives privateers the chance to compete for the Gentlemen title, even if they are unable to attend all eight-race weekends. The ADAC GT Masters has also come up with an additional financial incentive for veteran Gentlemen drivers of the series. Drivers who have already completed three full seasons in the Gentlemen class benefit from preferential terms and qualify for a 50% discount on the entry fee.

The prize money awarded in the Gentlemen class remains unchanged for the 2015 season with an overall fund of 75.000 Euros. The additional Gentlemen-only practise session, which was introduced in the previous season, is set to continue in 2015.

The enhanced scoring system introduced last year has proven its worth. This rewards pairings out of two Gentlemen drivers with double points in their class. The Top Three in the class will continue to be honoured in a separate podium ceremony. The Gentlemen championship is still reserved exclusively for Bronze-rated drivers.

"The Gentlemen class of the ADAC GT Masters is now entering its seventh year," says Lars Soutschka, ADAC Director Motorsport and Classic. "It offers great racing and we regard it as an integral part of the ADAC GT Masters. For the 2015 season, we have therefore further optimised the regulations for this class. These changes have been designed to take into account the special circumstances of gentlemen drivers who want to compete in the professional environment of the ADAC GT Masters but cannot afford the time to participate in all events."
