Paddock radar from the ADAC GT Masters at the Red Bull Ring

Ex-ski star Hans Knauß presents honours to the winners: Former Austrian ski racer Hans Knauß visited the ADAC GT Masters at the Red Bull Ring. After the first race on Saturday, Knauß presented the prizes and gave Albert von Thurn und Taxis and Tomas Enge their trophies for placing second; Knauß switched to motor racing after finishing his skiing career and drove a Lamborghini Gallardo for Reiter Engineering and for former ADAC GT Masters team s-berg Racing.

SOS Kinderdorf pays a visit: A group from the SOS Kinderdorf in Klagenfurt were invited to the Red Bull Ring on Sunday by the ATS Formula 3 Cup and the ADAC GT Masters. They not only watched the races but also had a look behind the scenes at the ADAC GT Masters, taking in the paddock, the media centre and the grid. They also took the opportunity to collect autographs at the session held during the pit walk.

Demonstration laps by ex-F1 driver Friesacher: Former Formula 1 driver Patrick Friesacher entertained fans at the Red Bull Ring after the first ADAC GT Masters race on Saturday by posting a number of demonstration laps in a Formula Renault 3.5. On Sunday, Friesacher, who has raced in eleven grands prix presented the honours to the runners-up in the ADAC GT Masters.

Andrea Kaiser in dirndl: Andrea Kaiser, who presents the ’ran Racing live broadcasts for kabel eins appeared on TV dressed in typical local style this Saturday. Kaiser presented the race stylishly attired in a dirndl.

Reiter celebrate: Reiter Engineering achieved their maiden podium with the Chevrolet Camaro in the first race at the Red Bull Ring, and the whole paddock celebrated. As is by now almost the tradition, Reiter Engineering invited everyone to a party in the paddock on Saturday night. ADAC GT Masters drivers and teams rounded off the evening with a cold beer and live music.

Dress rehearsal for Formula 1: The Red Bull Ring has had its first dress rehearsal since undergoing extensive renovations in recent month, as it played host to the ADAC GT Masters for this away leg in Austria. While the track itself remains unchanged from last year, the ‘voestalpine wing,’ a new ultramodern and absolutely stunning grandstand has been constructed, along with other permanent and temporary grandstands for the return of Formula 1 in two weeks’ time. The staff in charge at the Red Bull Ring used the ADAC GT Masters to give the circuit a thorough work-out, as they tested all their systems and procedures in the run-up to the Formula 1 race. On Thursday, Red Bull boss Dietrich Mateschitz even put in a personal race at the race track in Styria in order to see how work is progressing.
