Paddock radar: ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring

Top model judge Amin at Prosperia: The Super Sports Car League had a visit from a member of the fashion industry at the Nürburgring: fashion model agent Peyman Amin stopped by during the ADAC GT Masters weekend in the Eifel. Amin, who became well-known in his role as a judge in the ProSieben TV show, Germany’s Next Top Model, was the guest of Prosperia C Abt Racing team boss Slobodan Cvetkovic.

ADAC extends invitation to series partners: Race Saturday was all about the ADAC partners and sponsors of the ADAC GT Masters. In the morning, the ADAC conducted a workshop for sponsors. In the evening, ADAC Sports President Hermann Tomczyk invited series partners and sponsors to dinner.

Allan Simonsen remembered: The ADAC GT Masters took a moment at the Nürburgring to remember Allan Simonsen, who tragically lost his life at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June. Many teams had stickers of The Great Dane on their supercars. Allan lined up with Christina Nielsen in the first two races of the season in a Porsche. There was a minute’s silence for Simonsen during the driver’s meeting. British driver Sean Edwards took Simonsen’s place at Nielsen’s side at the Nürburgring and donated his driver’s fee to Allan’s family.

Campaign by fans in memory of Simonsen: An amazing internet campaign has been started by fans with the support of many ADAC GT Masters teams. Merchandise such as autographs, team clothing and original driver’s overalls are being auctioned to benefit Allan Simonsen’s family members on Facebook: www.facebook.com/AllanSimonsenCharityAktion

Götz wins on the slot car track: On Saturday, ADAC GT Masters defending champion Maximilian Götz celebrated yet another triumph after his victory in the race. At a press event organised by his team Polarweiss Racing and team sponsor SCHÖNER WOHNEN Polarweiss, Götz beat off fierce opposition from members of the media and his team-mates in a slot car race.

Photo Workshop: Eight amateur photographers got acquainted with motor sports photography at the Nürburgring. Online photo service provider PIXUM, who are the main sponsors of PIXUM Team Schubert, held a photo workshop at the Nürburgring, along with the photo magazine CHIP FOTO-VIDEO. Under the tutelage of experienced motor racing photographers, eight participants who had booked their place in a competition, got their first experience of the fascinating world of motor sports photography.

Short week for ADAC GT Masters teams: There’s no rest for many ADAC GT Masters teams, as they travel non-stop from the Nürburgring to the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The next ADAC GT Masters Weekend will be staged at the track in Styria this coming weekend (9th-11th August). A foretaste of the Super Sports Cars League can be had on Wednesday (7th August) in the Fohnsdorf Arena, near Fohnsdorf. From 3pm onwards, fans can take a closer look at some of the ADAC GT Masters sports cars and drivers will be on hand to sign autographs. There will be demo appearances from the supercars on a special course at 6:30pm.

The ADAC GT Masters again features eight events with 16 races for the 2013 season. Free to air TV channel kabel eins broadcasts all 16 races of the ADAC GT Masters live in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on Saturdays and Sundays, starting at 12.00 o’clock. For the first time, the Super Sports Car League will race on the Formula 1 circuit at Spa-Francorchamps and at the Slovakia Ring in Slovakia.
