Nissan in ADAC GT Masters comeback at Sachsenring

  • Schulze Motorsport fly the flag for Nissan with their GT-R
  • Home race for Leipzig-based outfit at the Sachsenring
  • Brothers Michael and Tobias Schulze to share cockpit

Nissan return to the ADAC GT Masters: The third race weekend of the Super Sports Car League at the Sachsenring (7th - 10th June) sees the Schulze Motorsport Nissan GT-R back in contention. The only supercar from Japan to grace the track during the forthcoming ADAC GT Masters weekend at the Sachsenring will be driven by the Schulze brothers, Michael (28) and Tobias (31). The team from Tagewerben near Leipzig is already familiar with the ADAC GT Masters series and with the undulating Sachsenring circuit, having entered their 550-horsepower Nissan GT-R for six of the eight ADAC GT Masters weekends last season.

Tobias Schulze lists three good reasons for re-entering the fray: “The Sachsenring is our home turf, we love driving there, and in the equivalent race last season, the Nissan and the track seemed made for each other; we were more competitive at the Sachsenring than on any other weekend.”

Since making its ADAC GT Masters debut in 2012, the brawny super sports car from Japan has undergone further development: “Nissan have improved the GT-R in all departments, especially with regard to the V8 engine. We now have a bit more power available, which should give us better straight-line speed. In addition, the aerodynamics and also the brakes have been upgraded.”

The two Schulze brothers are already excited about the prospect of mounting another ADAC GT Masters challenge in their Nissan. Tobias Schulze: “The Top 20 cars and drivers in the ADAC GT Masters are incredibly well matched, as we discovered last season. But we can now call on a whole year of experience with the Nissan. It’s difficult to predict how well we might do at the Sachsenring, because we are unfamiliar with the new YOKOHAMA tyres that are in use this year. It would be fantastic if we could finish in the Top Ten in at least one of the two races, but that will certainly not be an easy target to achieve.”

The 2013 ADAC GT Masters will once again be contested over 16 rounds on eight race weekends throughout the year. All 16 races of the ADAC GT Masters will be shown on free-to-air TV station kabel eins. The live broadcasts to audiences in Germany, Austria and Switzerland commence at 12 noon on both the Saturday and the Sunday. The Super Sports Car League is being hosted by two new venues this time: the Formula 1 circuit at Spa-Francorchamps and the Slovakia Ring in Slovakia.

Tickets for all ADAC GT Masters races start at €20 and can be purchased online at www.adac.de, from any ADAC branch office, online at www.eventim.de or from one of the more than 20.000 Eventim outlets throughout Europe.
