Strong line-up for 2013 ADAC GT Masters
- Full complement of 29 cars to contest the ADAC GT Masters title
- Super sports cars from ten different manufacturers on the grid
Edge-of-the seat racing action, superbly designed sports cars and adrenaline levels running high: The ADAC GT Masters has attracted a strong field for the 2013 season. The Super Sports Car League has a full complement of 29 cars entered by 17 teams and bearing ten different badges on their grilles. The ADAC expects a starting field of around 25 supercars to line up for the opening weekend of the season (26th to 28th April) at the etropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.
Once again, fans can look forward to a fascinating mix of leading motor manufacturers contesting the ADAC GT Masters title. Audi and Porsche will be hoping to impress with updated versions of their R8 and 911 models, and with BMW and Mercedes-Benz vying for honours, all the German premium brands are once again represented. Also throwing their hat into the ring are US sports car legend Corvette, Ford GT and Lamborghini Gallardo, while McLaren MP4-12C, Nissan GT-R and Ferrari 458 Italia will be delighting the fans at selected races.
ADAC Sports President Hermann Tomczyk is upbeat about the forthcoming season: "We have an extremely varied field with a fantastic array of different marques. The fans can again look forward to an exciting and spectacular season, whether they watch the races at the track or follow the live TV coverage at home on kabel eins.”
Porsche most popular marque among the teams contesting the 2013 season
Porsche has established itself as the most popular car with teams entering the ADAC GT Masters this year. German sports car icon Porsche 911 has had something of a visual makeover for the Super Sports Car League – fans will be astounded by its new broader proportions. There will be a total of seven Porsches entered by four teams: Schütz Motorsport, Tonino by Herberth Motorsport, Farnbacher Racing and (at selected races) Prospeed Competition from Belgium. The Audi R8 is also strongly represented again, with Prosperia C. Abt Racing, Racing YACO and reigning team champions MS RACING entering five Audi R8s between them.Meanwhile, Polarweiss Racing are pinning their hopes on two Mercedes-Benz SLS AMGs, the model that won last year’s title. DB Motorsport from the Netherlands and Schubert will be fielding three BMW Z4s, a car that won two races in last year’s ADAC GT Masters.
One ‘evergreen’ in the ADAC GT Masters is the Corvette – in fact, it has contested every race ever staged. So for the seventh season of the ADAC GT Masters, Callaway Competition will be entering four Corvette Z06s. RWT Racing Team will also be turning up with their Corvette for selected races. Wiesbaden-based Lambda Performance have likewise put their faith in a US muscle car – the legendary Ford GT. With 21 victories to date, Lamborghini is the most successful brand in the ADAC-run sports car series; this time round, there will be three Gallardos entered by two teams: rhino’s Leipert Motorsport and Grasser Racing of Austria. And the season just wouldn’t be complete without the involvement of Ferrari: on selected weekends, Kremer Racing will be entering a Ferrari 458 Italia. The only Japanese super sports car on this year’s entry list belongs to Schulze Motorsport. The Leipzig-based outfit will be bringing their Nissan GT R along for the occasional outing.
