ADAC and the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany promoting talent development

  • ADAC new partner in the Porsche Talent Pool
  • Exciting career options within the ADAC GT Masters
  • From the Porsche youth squad to professional sport: ADAC GT Masters drivers Sven Müller and Ayhancan Güven

Munich. The ADAC and the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany are expanding their cooperation: as a new partner for the Talent Pool, the youth squad in the Porsche Carrera Cup, the mobility club will now also be cooperating in the development of young drivers. The German one-make cup has enjoyed successful cooperation with the ADAC since 2018, with the majority of its races taking place within the ADAC GT Masters. The event platform provides young racing drivers with numerous opportunities for advancement.

“Motorsport activities at the ADAC focus on targeted support for talented young drivers. The Porsche Carrera Cup Germany has proved to be an ideal stepping stone to the ADAC GT Masters. We would like to intensify this connection. And that is why we are so looking forward to the partnership,” says ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss. The development programme in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany represents the ideal next career step for ambitious drivers from the ADAC Formula 4 and the ADAC GT4 Germany looking to equip themselves for professional sport.

A glance at the current list of starters in the ADAC GT Masters proves why the German Carrera Cup has been such a successful format. Last year, Porsche Junior driver Ayhancan Güven (Turkey) finished as runner-up in the Porsche one-make cup and this year he is competing in the ADAC GT Masters. Former Porsche Junior Sven Müller was crowned Porsche Carrera Cup champion in 2016 and this year he is competing in his fourth season in the German GT Championship. Just like Güven, the 30-year-old is driving a 500 HP Porsche 911 GT3 R in the ADAC GT Masters.

Eight youngsters in the Talent Pool benefit from fitness tests, as well as mental coaching and media training. The young drivers also receive in-depth support from former Porsche works driver Wolf Henzler on each race weekend. Last year, Laurin Heinrich made the leap from the Talent Pool to become a Porsche Junior. The 20-year-old German driver is also part of the squad for the Motorsport Team Germany at the ADAC Stiftung Sport, as well as the DMSB, and is currently topping the table in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany with the SSR Huber Racing team.

“Since the initial season in 1990, a host of racing drivers from the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany have made the step up to professional sport,” emphasises Hurui Issak, Project Lead for the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. “Thanks to our comprehensive talent development programme, the series has become a turbo-boost for young drivers. With the ADAC, we have added a partner with extensive experience from its wide-ranging motorsport programme and that provides career options for drivers with the ADAC GT Masters.”
