  • ADAC organises evening for sponsors and partners.
  • ADAC GT Masters drivers become slot car racers.

ADAC GT Masters drivers with fingers on the trigger: The finale of the ADAC Masters Weekend at Hockenheim was also the start of the 2012 Carrera Challenge Tour. The slot car manufacturer set up a large slot car track in the paddock, which attracted numerous drivers from the Super Sports Cars League. ADAC GT Masters’ Frank Kechele and Dino Lunardi beat Maxime Martin, Max Sandritter and Remo Lips in a two-race challenge.

End of season: On Saturday evening, the ADAC invited sponsors and partners to an evening with live music to mark the close of the season for the ADAC Masters Weekend. Numerous representatives from series partners, teams, organisers and the media took up the invitation in the ADAC Hospitality facility where Swen Dolenc (winner in the ADAC GT Masters amateur category) and Marvin Kirchhöfer (Formel ADAC winner) gave their first interviews as newly crowned champions.

Theissen at the ADAC Masters Weekend: Former BMW motorsport director Mario Theissen came to Hockenheim to watch the finale of the ADAC Masters Weekend. Theissen was very pleased to see Claudia Hürtgen /Dominik Schwager secure the second ADAC GT Masters victory of the BMW Z4. The Z4 was developed under Theissen’s aegis at BMW.

From California to the ADAC Masters Weekend: Reeves Callaway, founder of Callaway Cars, was keen to be at the finale of the ADAC GT Masters and travelled from California to the ADAC Masters Weekend in Hockenheim to support the Corvette prepared by Callaway Competition in the title fight. Callaway Competition, based in Leingarten near Heilbronn, is the independent racing arm of Callaway Cars and is managed by Ernst Wöhr and Giovanni Ciccone.

Bentley in the GT3 class: Newcomer in FIA’s GT3 class; the FIA also governs the ADAC GT Masters. Bentley presented the Continental GT3 last Wednesday at the Paris Motor Show. The British manufacturer intends returning to motor racing next year after a ten-year break. The Bentley Continental GT3, which is eligible to race in the ADAC GT Masters, will compete for the first time towards the end of the 2013 season.

Thanks to Nick Tandy: Due to a clash of dates, Nick Tandy, who along with title contender Christian Engelhart has so far secured four wins in the 2012 season at the wheel of the Porsche 911 prepared by Team Geyer & Weinig EDV – Schütz Motorsport, had to miss the finale at Hockenheim. Fellow Brit, Sean Edwards, came to Tandy’s aid. The team thanked Tandy in their own way, by plastering a ‘Thanks Nick’ sign to the Porsche’s A-pillar.
