ADAC GT Masters Nürburgring: Paddock radar

  • Stuck brothers film premieres at Nürburgring
  • Extra bonus for reigning champions Margaritis / Lunardi
  • Truck Grand Prix fans brave Eifel weather

Curtain rises on ‘Brothers Pursuit’: The film premiere of ‘Brothers Pursuit’ took place to around 150 special guests on Saturday evening in the Nürburgring’s cinema. Ferdinand and Johannes Stuck play the leading roles in the documentary. The film chronicles the quest for victory of the two sons of motor racing legend Hans-Joachim ‘Striezel’ Stuck in the ADAC Zurich 24-hour race at the Nürburgring. Johannes Stuck did not only star in the film: “I also co-produced the film, along with director Alex Schiller,” said the Aston Martin driver. The film is to feature on the Stuck brothers Internet website in the very near future.

Watches for the champions: Alexandros Margaritis and Dino Lunardi, 2011 ADAC GT Masters champions in the BMW ALPINA B6, were very pleased to be given a belated gift at the Nürburgring. ALPINA team boss Andreas Bovensiepen had commissioned a limited edition of Swiss watches to celebrate the title win, which he then presented to the two title holders at the Nürburgring.

Tim Bergmeister makes flying visit: Tim Bergmeister had the longest journey to the ADAC Truck Grand Prix; the 2008 ADAC GT Masters champion flew in directly from Japan to the Eifel. After his bad accident during a race in Japan in early May, Bergmeister had returned to Japan for follow-up treatment. “Doctors have given me the all-clear,” said Bergmeister, who has made a brilliant recovery. His father, Willi Bergmeister, was with him at the Nürburgring and Tim is already busy planning his racing comeback.

Party atmosphere, despite lousy weather: Fans at the ADAC Truck Grand Prix did not let the poor Eifel weather spoil their mood. Despite the very changeable weather, thousands of fans turned out on Friday and Saturday evening to enjoy the various acts appearing on the open-air stage in the Müllenbachschleife. DJ Ötzi, Gunther Gabriel, country legend Tom Astor and the cult band Truck Stop were just some of the top names on the bill.

Hennerici now in charge: A familiar face in the ADAC GT Masters paddock took care of the smooth running of motor racing at the ADAC Truck Grand Prix; Marc Hennerici, 2009 ADAC GT Masters runner-up and now in the employ of ADAC Mittelrhein, who were responsible for general organisation at the Truck Grand Prix, was at the event looking after motor racing.

ADAC GT Masters on TV: All 16 races of the ADAC GT Masters are broadcast live at 12.15pm on Saturdays and Sundays in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on free-to-air TV channel kabel eins. Sports channel SPORT1 will feature highlights of the ADAC GT Masters from the Nürburgring in the ADAC Masters Weekend Magazine on 21st July at 12.15pm. In addition, live timing from all practice sessions and races to supplement live TV broadcasts can be found at www.adac-gt-masters.de
