Sven Barth and returnee David Jahn will race for RWT Racing

  • Corvette C7 GT3-R with new driver pairing in ADAC GT Masters
  • Barth and Jahn have secured the outfit’s only win to date

Munich: RWT Racing will compete in the ADAC GT Masters this season with regular driver Sven Barth (38, Germany) and David Jahn (28, Germany), who is now returning to the series, in the familiar Corvette C7 GT3-R. The two of them lined up together in 2014 for the outfit from south-west Germany and took a win at the Nürburgring. Barth and Jahn will have their first race outing at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben on the weekend of 26th - 28th April when the Super Sports Car League gets its season under way. SPORT1 will broadcast the races live and in full.

While Barth has driven for RWT Racing in the ADAC GT Masters continuously since 2013, his new team-mate is returning to the series for the first time in two years. He was championship runner-up in 2016 and has won five races so far. “We are pleased to be able to sign David Jahn for our team this year. He was with us back in 2014 when we were still running the Corvette ZO6.R GT3,” said RWT Racing Team Principal Gerd Beisel. “We’re looking forward to the start of the season and to being able to continue to build on the support of our sponsors.”

Sven Barth will again compete in the Pirelli Trophy stakes after securing third place in the standings in 2018 and has fond memories of his season with Jahn. “We felt the warm glow of success when we won in the Eifel in 2014. It’s the best season we’ve had so far. Things are looking really good for 2019, but despite that, we don’t want to set the bar too high. Of course, I will try to get the maximum out of the car with David, but we don’t want to approach the season, feeling under pressure. We want to hang loose. Maybe we can consistently achieve finishes in the Top 15 under our own steam, but in any event, we will try to do really well where we can, for sure.”

Jahn too is reigning in expectations for the time being as he rejoins the series: “The entire team at RWT Racing are in an excellent position, and I believe that we can achieve some notable success. I’ve never lost contact with Gerd Beisel over the years, and we’ve always talked about the possibility of joining forces again. The championship has changed and the competition has become tougher. We are two good drivers in a car that has the potential to secure decent results.”
