Lamborghini driver Perera fastest in opening session at Nürburgring

  • Frenchman fastest in hotly contested first practice
  • IronForce by RING POLICE with Fan World for home fixture
  • Red Bull F1 test driver Jake Dennis at Montaplast by Land-Motorsport for first time

Nürburg: Fans of the ADAC GT Masters are in for some hot action at the Nürburgring in more
ways than one this weekend (3rd-5th August). Lamborghini driver Franck Perera (34, F, GRT
Grasser Racing Team) secured best time as temperatures nudged 30 degrees earlier in first
practice. The gaps between cars were once again very small, demonstrating how evenly
matched the field is in the Super Sports Car League. IronForce by RING POLICE’s Fan World is
another big attraction at the meeting. SPORT1 will broadcast the two races from the Eifel live
and in full on Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 pm. They can also be followed online as livestream
at sport1.de, adac.de/motorsport and youtube.com/adac.

Perera, who shares the Lamborghini Huracán with Ezequiel Perez Companc (24, RA), defied the
hot weather conditions to set the fastest time of 1:27.371 minutes at an early stage in the
session. “We carried on from where we left off yesterday in testing,” said the ex-Formula 1 test
driver. “Everything is going well. It’s extremely hot, which doesn’t make things any easier for us.
It’s going to be very close out on track this weekend. We’re working hard to find a good set-up
for qualifying so that we can get a good position on the grid.”

The second-fastest pair of drivers in the 60-minute practice session, Luca Stolz (23, DEU) and
Sebastian Asch (32, DEU), were a mere 0.027 seconds down on best time, getting the weekend
off to a great start in their Mercedes-AMG GT3 for home team, Zakspeed BKK Mobil Oil Racing.
The Audi pairing of Mike David Ortmann (18, DEU) and Markus Winkelhock (38, DEU) took third
place from BWT Mücke Motorsport team-mates Ricardo Feller (18, CH) and Christopher Haase
(30, DEU). Rolf Ineichen (40, CH) and Christian Engelhart (31, DEU) in another Lamborghini
fielded by GRT Grasser Racing Team completed the Top Five at the end of the 60-minute
session. Just one second covered 21 cars in all on the Nürburgring’s 3.62-km sprint track.

IronForce by RING POLICE set up amazing Fan World

Team IronForce by RING POLICE race a Porsche 911 GT3 R with their two drivers, Jan-Erik
Slooten (33, DEU) and Lucas Luhr (39, DEU). The squad have set up their own Fan World in the
paddock with some very interesting features for their home ADAC GT Masters fixture at the
Nürburgring. Vehicles from the Porsche Museum at Gmünd, including the Porsche 911 GT2, with
which Uwe Alzen won the ADAC GT Cup in 1995, are on display in the Fan World and are just
awesome. Throughout the weekend, there will also be music and interviews with the drivers on
the stage erected by the Erkelenz-based outfit.

Red Bull Formula 1 test driver in line-up for Montaplast by Land-Motorsport

Montaplast by Land Motorsport newcomer Jake Dennis came directly to the ADAC GT Masters
from Formula 1 testing at the Hungaroring. The British driver posted 131 laps for Red Bull
Racing in Hungary on Wednesday and will make his debut this weekend in the #29 Audi R8 LMS
as team-mate to former champion Christopher Mies (29, DEU). Dennis has had barely any time
to relax since lining up last weekend in the 24-hour race at Spa where he finished ninth overall
in an Aston Martin. “Of course, it takes a bit of getting used to, switching from an F1 race car to
the GT3 Audi, but it gets better with every lap,” said Dennis. “Still, I should know the car inside
out by the time qualifying comes around. I’ve heard a lot about Land-Motorsport, so I’m
delighted to now be racing for the team. It’s just fantastic the trust they’ve placed in me. I’m
very grateful for that. Also, I’ve known Christopher Mies for several years. We’ve got a strong
line-up and aim to secure good results. I’m particularly looking forward to Zandvoort in mid-
August. It’s one of my all-time favourite tracks.”
