Pole position for Lamborghini in home fixture for GRT Grasser Racing

• Christian Engelhart secures second pole of season for local favourites
• Mercedes-AMG drivers Maximilian Götz and Luca Ludwig right behind them

Spielberg: In qualifying for the second ADAC GT Masters race at the Red Bull Ring, Christian Engelhart (30, DEU) was the cause of much jubilation in the GRT Grasser Racing camp. The Lamborghini works driver took the second pole position of the season for the outfit, whose team headquarters are not far from the race track. Maximilian Götz (31, DEU, Mercedes-AMG Team HTP Motorsport) also qualified on the front row in the best-placed Mercedes-AMG ahead of Luca Ludwig (27, DEU, Mercedes-AMG Team ZAKSPEED). SPORT1 will broadcast the sixth ADAC GT Masters race of the season live and in full at 1.00pm. The event will also be featured online as a livestream at sport1.de and adac.de/motorsport.

Qualifying for Sunday's Super Sports Car League race over the 4.326-kilometre circuit was extremely closely contested. A second covered 20 vehicles at the end of the 20-minute session. However, the gap between pole-sitter Engelhart and second place was unusually large. With a time of 1.27.500 minutes, the German was 0.240 seconds faster than former champion Götz. Engelhart: "I got in an absolutely cracking lap. Things went brilliantly well after not having such a good day on Saturday. The team have provided me with a great car, and I gave it my all. The whole team have earned this pole position."

Behind Götz, who achieved his best result in qualifying so far this season with a P2, came Luca Ludwig in third place with a deficit of a mere 29 thousandths of a second. The gaps between the other vehicles were also less than a tenth of a second in the positions that followed. Michael Ammermüller (31, DEU, KÜS Team75 Bernhard) in the fastest Porsche took P4 from Philipp Eng (27, A), who was the best-placed Austrian in the BMW M6 prepared by BMW Team Schnitzer. Sebastian Asch (31, DEU, BWT Mücke Motorsport) also made it into the Top Six. The German shares the Mercedes-AMG with DTM championship leader Lucas Auer (22, A).

Saturday's winner and current leader of the Super Sports Car League standings Daniel Keilwitz (27, DEU, Callaway Competition) booked eighth place in his Corvette C7.
