ADAC GT Masters meets Formula 3 Masters: A race with an illustrious tradition is being held in the context of the ADAC GT Masters at Zandvoort. Now into its 25th year, the ‘Masters of Formula 3’ is sharing the venue with the Super Sports Car League. Past winners of the event include Lewis Hamilton, Nico Hülkenberg and David Coulthard.
New Audi R8 undergoes testing: From the Nürburgring to Zandvoort – some of the ADAC GT Masters drivers came to the Netherlands via the Eifel. Last Wednesday, several of the regular Audi drivers, including Florian Stoll and Daniel Dobitsch, were at the Nürburgring to test the new Audi R8 LMS which will be competing in next year’s ADAC GT Masters. “The new R8 is a fantastic car,” raved the two kfzteile24 MS RACING squad members afterwards.
Family outing: Many of the contestants in the Super Sports Car League weekend on the North Sea coast have taken the opportunity to make it a family outing. The grandfather of defending champion Kelvin van der Linde made a special journey from South Africa to the Netherlands. Nicki Thiim was also supported by his nearest and dearest: “My family always comes to one race per season. This year, we chose Zandvoort.”
BMW unveils its new M6 GT3: BMW provided a foretaste of the 2016 season at the International Motor Show IAA in Frankfurt. On Monday, the Bavarian manufacturer showed off the new M6 GT3 in its final design stage. The coupé supersedes the Z4 which has been racing since 2010.
Premiere for new Corvette at Hockenheim: Callaway Competition also intend to show the shape of things to come in their home fixture at Hockenheim. On Saturday afternoon (3rd October) of the final weekend on the 2015 ADAC GT Masters calendar, the team will be showcasing the new Corvette, which is based on the Model C7, in the Hockenheim paddock. From 2016 onwards, the C7 GT3-R will replace the American muscle car which is based on the C6 series production model. It has been one of the most successful super sports car in the history of the ADAC GT Masters, with a total of 23 race wins since 2007. Callaway Competition have developed and built the Corvette in-house in Germany.
Not such a Happy Birthday: Dominic Jöst had been hoping for a bit of good cheer as he celebrated his 37th birthday on Saturday. But after his team-mate Florian Scholze spun their Nissan GT-R into the tyre wall in free practice on Friday, the joint leaders in the Gentlemen class had to miss out on the two races at Zandvoort. Jöst made the best of the situation and moved his birthday party from the Zandvoort paddock to Amsterdam.
