- First ADAC GT Masters outing of the season for Albert von Thurn und Taxis
- Lamborghini returns to Super Sports Car League from Sachsenring weekend onwards
- Von Thurn und Taxis: “I’m looking forward to competing on the best racetrack in Germany”
Munich: Albert von Thurn und Taxis (32) is back in the ADAC GT Masters. The 2010 champion will be competing at the Sachsenring (28th - 30th August) and at Zandvoort in the Netherlands (18th - 20th September) behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Gallardo entered by Reiter Engineering. At the Sachsenring the experienced competitor will be sharing the cockpit with ex-Formula 1 driver Tomas Enge (38) from the Czech Republic.
“I’m really looking forward to the races at the Sachsenring,” says von Thurn und Taxis. “For me, the race weekend there is always a sort of home fixture. I consider the Sachsenring to be the best racetrack in Germany.” The aristocrat from Regensburg in Bavaria has already experienced success on the rollercoaster circuit outside Chemnitz, notching up two victories in a Lamborghini.
The appearance at the Sachsenring of the nine-time ADAC GT Masters race winner will be his first in the Super Sports Car League driving a Lamborghini since 2012. The manufacturer already has one success to its credit in 2015 when Enge partnered by David Russell (33, AUS) driving the final evolutionary stage of the Gallardo won at the Red Bull Ring in June. “The Gallardo is a great car and is particularly suited to the Sachsenring, so that’s a good combination.”
Von Thurn und Taxis is aiming to maintain his good record at the Sachsenring: “The Lamborghini is a good car, and together with Tomas, we have the right package to be competing at the front of the field. I’m looking forward to the weekend and already getting quite excited.”
